* The UsefulNotes/NintendoSwitch version of ''VideoGame/{{Miitopia}}'' gives players a nameable horse that tags along with the main party, essentially making them this. The horse can even be customized, just like the Miis themselves. Although they aren't ''too'' useful in combat, they will occasionally help the party and provide powerful attacks. TheHero can even use the horse to perform a LimitBreak attack.

Once motorized vehicles replaced horsepower, the Dalmatians remained: primarily as mascots for firehouses, though also functioning as guard dogs and rat-catchers.
* Owney the Postal Dog, mascot of the U.S. Railway Mail Service from the 1890s. Considered a good luck charm by postal workers, as none of the trains which this little mutt loved to hitch lifts on ever suffered an accident.

* Fussy Britches to the ''WebVideo/D20Live'' 2014 campaign (and subsequently ''D20 Live'' in general).

** As the series went on, other Pokémon took the role of Team Pet from Pikachu, usually the weakest Pokémon of the female member of the party. * ''In ''Film/RockyMountain'', Jimmy Wheat carries his little dog Spot along with him for 2,000 miles on a secret mission in California. When they ride off to face the Shoshones, Jimmy leaves Spot with Johanna, but shortly after the men ride away, Spot wriggles free and runs after his friend.

* Tucker's alien baby 'Junior' briefly serves as this for Blue Team in Season 5 of ''Machinima/RedVsBlue''.
