* Jamiroquai has an unrepentant penchant for the odd; not to mention most memorable videos of the nineties with both [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JkIs37a2JE "Virtual Insanity"]] and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9W9rc-P9UQ "Feels Just Like it Should"]], which this troper is still trying to decipher.

* ¡Forward, Russia!'s "Nineteen" is a slow motion film of kids throwing waterbombs full of purple paint at each other.

* The king of them all. PeterGabriel and [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqyc37aOqT0 "Sledgehammer."]] The rest of his videos seem to be escalating contests to reach or top this level of MindScrew.

* Just about anything from the 80s. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5Lec3m1pLY]] is a good example.
* LadyGaga's "Bad Romance." The story, on the face of it, is all but straightforward: our Lady is sold into prostitution by TheMafiya to a man with a brass beard and escapes through [[NewPowersAsThePlotDemands sudden pyrokinesis]]. This is intercut with her being kidnapped from the bathtub while wearing dinner plate eyes that put her in the UncannyValley, doing a ''Thriller'' tribute dance after rising from coffin-like tanning beds, and touching herself in the shower as [[BattlestarGalactica her spine glows]]. Despite the overarching story, this, combined with the oddities of the Mafiya scenes (diamonds float around Gaga when she's on display, bids are entered with Wiimotes, etc.) makes it hard not to see it as a SurrealMusicVideo.

** Foo Fighters, "Everlong". Takes place partially in dreams, but not AllJustADream as such. It involves giant phones, band members discarding false skins to reveal their true identities, and Dave Grohl (in-character) gaining a massive right hand with which to administer bitch slaps of death.

* Too Much Joy's [[http://www.rollingstone.com/artists/toomuchjoy/videos/video/6462001/making_fun_of_bums "Making Fun Of Bums"]], which among other things features ridiculous jumpsuits, a member plugging his guitar into another member's mouth and electrocuting him, another member standing in front of a propped up mattress with a sign reading "I am dreaming", someone dressed as a painter walking into frame for no reason, and lengthy bookends of the band just standing around in rain gear at a fishing pier. The band disliked how it came out, but couldn't make a second video, so they just added snarky subtitles about how little sense it all made ("Maybe you should just close your eyes and listen to the song").

* Santigold, "L.E.S. Artistes". It's an homage to ''The Holy Mountain'', which is pretty much all you need to know about in terms of surreality.

* The video for Sean Lennon's cover of [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qygCpU6MKZg "Would I Be The One"]], which is part of an already surreal video collection called ''Friendly Fire'', features animated versions of Sean and his friends traveling to a distant planet on a carnival ride and being captured by aliens. However, the high levels of MindScrew were inevitable given that it's an homage to ''FantasticPlanet''.

** Perhaps his best video is the one for Come On My Selector by Squarepusher. Every sound in the song is synchronised to the video. The video itself is about a Japanese girl who escapes and asylum by swapping her dog's brain into one of of the guards trying to chase her. It really must be seen to be believed.

** His most famous video is probably the one for Come To Daddy by Aphex Twin. The video features a number of children terrorising an old lady walking her dog. Each child has the face of the Aphex Twin. Brrrrr.
** He also directed another Aphex Twin clip, "Windowlicker". It features a bunch of scantily clad women all dancing rather provactively. Again, however, the [[Squick]] comes in when you see that they all have Aphex Twin's face!
