Last but not least is the content of the featured series. If you've got a series RatedMForMoney teaming up with a far less violent series, the former will most likely be {{bowdlerise}}d for the crossover so as to not clash aesthetically and/or upset the owners of the less violent series.

* Yes, the above ''{{Archie}}'' ''meets'' ''ThePunisher'' cover is real. But it's probably easy to guess that it was mostly PlayedForLaughs.

** And again with the "The Super-Batman of Planet X!", where Batman is stranded on a strange, alien planet and teams up with the local near-identical Batman to foil crime. Then it turns out that thanks to the planet's atmosphere Batman becomes a FlyingBrick, much to the local Batman-X's chagrin. That is, until the [[KryptoniteIsEverywhere commonly occurring]] mineral [[strike:[[{{Superman}} Kryptonite]] ''[[WeaksauceWeakness Quartz]]'' renders him worse than powerless.

* Jack Black on ''{{Community}}'', as a parody of ''RememberTheNewGuy'', turned into this. He upsets the group dynamic with his wierd schtick eventually forcing Jeff to drag him out of the Study Room kicking and screaming.

Also, bullets would either be fast and tiny (And thus a GameBreaker, like [[TheLegendOfZelda Sheik]]'s needless in ''Melee'') or big and not that fast ([[VoodooShark Which would be worse]]), so they just decided to TakeAThirdOption and disregard normal guns (Though he's still Top Tier).
*** Not to mention that M-Rated or not, the world of MetalGear is full of people who have psychic powers, rollerskate bombers, dancing bisexual nanotech vampires, and guys who are [[MemeticMutation Covered in Bees!]] I'm sure that Snake is more than happy to put his guns away if all he has to fight is [[PokeMon electric mice]] and [[SonicTheHedgehog blue hedgehogs]].
**** Ness is a kid with psychich powers... and the enemies he faces are not less threat that the enemies he has faced, the only possible explanation for him not bringing guns is him not wantign to do them harm...

Crossovers with ''Blue Moon'' thus remove Hoshi, Yukari and Mia entirely while playing up the role of Emiru.

* One episode of ''BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'' had this trope inverted, Batman is transported to 1880s England, where he "teams up" with SherlockHolmes and outclasses him in most ways. While Sherlock is no slouch (and discovers and reaches the villain's hideout before Batman), Batman fights better, can make {{Bat Deduction}}s with less information, and can handle the clearly supernatural Gentleman Ghost while Holmes is made a victim.
** It was probably wise of the producers to have this acknowledged in-story, as Holmes spends the episode trying to prove that he's not inferior to Batman. (He doesn't quite manage it, but his ego is soothed when Batman states that Holmes is the one considered the World's Greatest Detective.)
*** [[{{FridgeBrilliance}} It makes sense though.]] Batman, being from the future, has knowledge and training that Holmes does not, not to mention, being who he is, likely having a high level of historical information stored away in his mind. This gives him an advantage that Sherlock does not enjoy. As for being a better fighter, well, this is [[{{BadAss}} Batman]] we're talking about.
**** Actually even historians have to fail somewhere at depicting history and Batman sources can't be accurate enough to make him a better investigator than Sherlock Holmes, I consider the way Sherlock Holmes to be represented to be offensive!!!

* To a minor extent, ''SuperSmashBros. Brawl'' and [[MetalGear Snake]]. A M-rated character battles heroes who are perfectly OK for the entire family? Wave goodbye to his realistic firearms. He gets to keep explosive arms, though.

* The ''SamuraiSentaiShinkenger'' story arc of ''KamenRiderDecade''. Since {{Kamen Rider}}s do not deal with giant monsters on a regular basis whereas ''SuperSentai'' does and the crossover occurs in a ''Kamen Rider'' show, the arc was written to feature an original ''Sentai'' who became an anomaly of sorts thanks to Decade's intrusion and thus could not [[MakeMyMonsterGrow grow]] unlike his brethren.
