Gulec, on the other hand, fully returns her love; everyone says that she "lights up" in his presence and is happier than she's been in years.

* ''ComicBook/{{Superman}}'': Superman fell in love with ComicBook/LoisLane (and in the Post-Crisis universe, married her) after a boyhood romance with ComicBook/LanaLang.
* ''[[ComicBook/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesMirage Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles]]'': April and Casey were in the early stages of forming a relationship when he accidentally kills a teenage mugger during the ''City at War'' arc. This leads him into a drunken spiral and the two of them break up almost as soon as they get together. ''Then'' he meets Gabrielle who is essentially his SecondLove who, sadly, dies in childbirth. * [[Franchise/StarWars Luke Skywalker]] went through a lot of girlfriends in the ''Franchise/StarWarsExpandedUniverse''. Mara Jade was his latest (and [[spoiler:longest lasting]]).

With that in mind, for decades, people who never touched the comics were only aware of ComicBook/MaryJaneWatson due to Gwen being omitted from adaptations for a good while. MJ is also an interesting example in that Peter technically knew Mary Jane longer, but their relationship wasn't "love" until long after Gwen died.
* Franchise/{{Superman}} fell in love with ComicBook/LoisLane (and in the Post-Crisis universe, married her) after a boyhood romance with ComicBook/LanaLang.
* Madelyne Pryor and ComicBook/{{Cyclops}}. Complicated by the fact that Madelyne is actually a clone of ComicBook/JeanGrey, the first love, [[TangledFamilyTree and things just get more complicated from there]].
* In the ''ComicBook/StarWarsTales'' comic ''Lucky: The Curse of Wedge Antilles'', we see that as a teenager Wedge was in love with a Rebel sympathizer named Mala, only for her to be killed by Imperials while he was "[[PlotArmor luckily]]" away hauling cargo; he [[NeverGotToSayGoodbye never got to say that he loved her]]. Flash forward to the ''ComicBook/XWingRogueSquadron'' comics and he has a casual romance with a quartermaster named Reina. Flash forward to the ''Literature/XWingSeries'' novels and he starts getting close to a widow named Iella, only to back off with no hard feelings when they found out her husband wasn't dead; when he died for real, they started romancing each other a little more, but drifted apart. In the ''Literature/JediAcademyTrilogy'' Wedge fell hard for Qwi, a scientist who worked on the Death Star, even writing poetry to her hair, and in ''[[Literature/XWingSeries Starfighters of Adumar]]'' they broke up on good terms and Wedge eventually got back with Iella. He married Iella and they had two daughters.
* ''ComicBook/TeenTitans'': ComicBook/{{Raven}} is this for Beast Boy, his first love being Jillian Jackson.
* ''Franchise/{{Batman}}'':

* In ''ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogArchieComics'', Antoine D'Coolette's "first love" is Princess Sally. He's much better known for his relationship with Bunnie Rabbot, to the point that his marriage with her carried over to the reboot.
* In the ''ComicBook/FantasticFour'', the ComicBook/HumanTorch's original girlfriend was Dorrie Evans, a teenager he met and dated for the duration of his solo feature in ''Strange Tales''. After his ''Strange Tales'' features ended, Dorrie showed up in an issue of ''Fantastic Four'' just so that it could be revealed that she was now dating other guys. The Torch quickly rebounded when he met Crystal of ComicBook/TheInhumans (introduced in the very same issue where Dorrie broke up with him, no less), who subsequently went on to become his most famous love interest. In a bit irony, this trope applies to Crystal herself, as while the Human Torch was her first boyfriend, the man she eventually ended up marrying was ComicBook/{{Quicksilver}}.
* Franchise/WonderWoman becomes this for Superman in ''ComicBook/KingdomCome'', and Superman himself appears to be this for Wonder Woman in the New 52.

* In the current line of ''Franchise/StarWars'' comics, Han Solo is revealed to have been married to a woman named Sana in the past before meeting Leia. [[spoiler:Though it's subverted when it's revealed that they were never really married in the first place]]
* In ''ComicBook/TheVision2015'', Virginia is [[ComicBook/TheVision Vision]]'s second love after ComicBook/ScarletWitch. It's a bit complicated, though, as Virginia's mind was originally modeled after Wanda's. Wanda herself began dating ComicBook/WonderMan after her relationship with Vision ended (the first time). As Vision's mind is based off of Wonder Man's, this caused some concern among her teammates.
* In ''ComicBook/TalesOfTheJedi'', the widowed Nomi Sunrider finds a second love with Ulic Qel-Droma when she becomes a Jedi Knight. Unfortunately for her, Ulic winds up falling to the dark side and making himself an enemy, and she personally cuts him off from the Force [[spoiler:after he kills his brother. She is therefore less than pleased when her daughter seeks training from him a decade later, but they wind up reconciling... before he's shot in the back by a bystander who wants to make history]].

* ''Webcomic/JoeVsElanSchool'': Joe originally has a whirlwind romance with a woman named Maria, who ends up marrying and later divorces. Some years later, while traveling around the world, Joe meets another wooman named Sofi, who he dates and ends up with.

* In ''Film/ThePatriot'' Benjamin Martin's wife has died, apparently of natural causes by the film's start. Her sister Charlotte and he start to develop a mutual attraction on which they are at first hesitant to act. By the end, however, they decide to become a couple.

** Following his adopted father's footsteps, [[ComicBook/RobinSeries Tim Drake's]] first love was Ariana Dzerchenko and his second love was with [[ComicBook/Batgirl2009 Stephanie Brown]]. In fact, Tim is Stephanie's second love -- her first boyfriend, Dean, got her pregnant and abandoned her after he found out.

** Sayaka had once been in a GayRomanticPhase relationship with her [[SenpaiKohai senpai]] from her previous school, but they broke up because the older girl merely saw it as a phase. Sayaka was heartbroken, and briefly intended never to fall in love with a girl again. Then Sayaka met Touko, and fell in love with her at first sight. [[spoiler:Touko rejects Sayaka, but in the years after they graduate, Sayaka gets into a relationship with a girl named Haru]].

* ''Series/DowntonAbbey'': Very common. In the Crawley family we have: Mary has a happy marriage with Matthew, and after [[spoiler: Matthew's death]] falls in love with Henry Talbot. Edith, meanwhile, is on her third or even fourth love: before the series even starts, she pines after her cousin Patrick who dies on the Titanic, after the war, she attempts to marry Anthony Strallan, later has a relationship with her editor, Michael Gregson, and finally marries Berty Pellham. For the servants, there's John Bates, who is unhappily married to Vera Bates, but after [[spoiler: her suicide and sundry misadventures and murder accusations]] marries his fellow servant Anna, and (possibly) Richard Ellis for Thomas, who's first love was with the very manipulative Duke of Crowborough.

** Taiyang Xiao Long was married to his teammate Raven Branwen, who abandoned them shortly after their daughter Yang Xiao Long was born. He then fell for his other female teammate Summer Rose, who raised their daughter Ruby Rose alongside Yang, whom Summer raised as her own. It was only after Summer's disappearance that Yang learned the truth about her parentage, but she still regards Summer as both her mother and her hero. She tells Blake that Taiyang shut down for a while after Summer's death because of the cost of losing two loves.

** Taiyang Xiao Long was married to his teammate Raven Branwen, who abandoned them shortly after their daughter Yang Xiao Long was born. * ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'': Taiyang Xiao Long was married to his teammate Raven Branwen. She gave birth to a daughter, Yang Xiao Long, but then Raven disappeared shortly thereafter. Taiyang then fell for his other teammate, Summer Rose, and she raised Yang as her own even as she and Taiyang had their own daughter, Ruby Rose. It wasn't until Summer disappeared as well that Yang found out about all this--she had thought Summer was her biological mother for most of her childhood.
** [[spoiler: Ironically, Yang herself is the second love of Blake Belladonna (Blake's first love was Adam Taurus and to add a little bit of symbolic, Blake and Yang killed Adam).]]

** Those who consider Angel to be Buffy's FirstLove, however, also consider Spike to be her second (ignoring the writers' poor attempt to get her together with soldier and demon hunter, Riley). [[spoiler: They get together in the comics.]]

* In ''Fanfic/OneDayAtATimeFanfic'' and its sequel, ''Fanfic/TheSuperheroGame'', Jason Todd-Wayne (Batman III) and Donna Troy (Wonder Woman II) are this to each other. Jason's FirstLove was Artemis of Bana-Mighdall, who he had a daughter with; but different priorities eventually caused them to drift apart and end their relationship amicably. Donna, meanwhile was in love with Jason's best friend Roy Harper, who tragically died when Jason was nineteen and Donna was twenty-four. His death hit Donna hard, and it was one of the contributing factors to her exiling herself from Man's World for a decade seven years later. She didn't fall in love with Jason until she returned from her exile, and by that point Roy had been dead for decades.

** The PlayerCharacter to Jaheira in ''VideoGame/BaldursGate 2''.
** The player character of ''VideoGame/KnightsOfTheOldRepublic'' to Carth.

*** The player character to Aribeth, and possibly a different player character again to Aribeth as her third love in ''Hordes of the Underdark''.

*** The player to Anera in the Shadowlords/Dreamcatcher/Demon arc.

** The player character to Thane or Jack in ''VideoGame/MassEffect2''.

* Atoli from ''VideoGame/DotHackGUGames'' to Haseo, at least in the G.U. Film Trilogy. The games themselves have ''no'' canon pairing.

* In ''VideoGame/LifeIsStrange'', the PlayerCharacter, Max, eventually falls in love with her childhood best friend Chloe. Rachel Amber (whom Chloe befriended when Max moved away prior to the game) is heavily implied to be Chloe's first love. The prequel, ''VideoGame/LifeIsStrangeBeforeTheStorm'', [[spoiler: confirms this (although exactly how close they are depends).]]

** His (ultimate) aunt, Polgara, loved and lost her [[TheChampion champion]], [[KnightInShiningArmor Count Ontrose]], when Vo Wacune fell, millennia before the main story takes place. She ultimately marries Durnik, who was the kindhearted, sensible, hardworking blacksmith on the farm where she had raised Garion and who followed them on the quest out of [[DeclarationOfProtection love]] and [[UndyingLoyalty loyalty]].

* ''Film/KuchKuchHotaHai'': Despite initially reluctant to remarry after the death of his wife, Tina, Rahul eventually finds love again in his longtime best friend, Anjali, upon meeting her again after being estranged for years.

* ''Fanfic/IHopeYourePreparedForAnUnforgettableWedding'': [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Principal Skinner and Superintendent Chalmers]], to each other. Chalmers' wife Rosemary died of illness, and Skinner's fiancee Edna [[Recap/TheSimpsonsS15E17MyBigFatGeekWedding dumped him at the altar]]. However, they ended up falling in love with ''each other'', and realized that they were meant to be. Heck, when Chalmers is saying his vows, he refers to Skinner as his "greatest second chance".

** Soupina's eventual husband, Osmond Cross, after her fiance Persian Waterson died of Red Plague. The thought of losing Osmond to the Red Plague as well is what finally gets Soupina to break through and dip down.

** [[spoiler: Ironically, Yang herself is the second love of Blake Beladonna. (Blake's first love was Adam Taurus. And to add a little bit of symbolic, Blake and Yang killed Adam).]]

* ''[[https://gundamfanon.fandom.com/wiki/Mobile_Suit_Gundam_SEED_Paradox Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Paradox]]'': [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED Flay Allster]] finds one in Akiza Izinski after moving on from Kira, who has since been content living together with Lacus (see above). Akiza is the same person who piloted the Paradox that erased Flay's death from the timeline. Part of Flay's relationship with Akiza what motivates her [[TheAtoner to atone for her mistakes]] and not wanting to see anyone to go down the wrong path she took during the war.

* In ''WesternAnimation/MyDadTheRockStar'' Willy falls for his best friend Alyssa in the [[LastMinuteHookup last episode]]. Alyssa was the second girl he fell for in the series, with his first love being Angela D'Angelo. While mutually interested, Willy and Angela's relationship never even technically got started due to the actions of Angela's ''extremely'' [[OverprotectiveDad protective]] [[MyBelovedSmother parents]], with said parents moving the entire family out of town just to prevent said relationship.

* In the ''Franchise/KingdomHearts'' and ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' Crossover fanfiction, "[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13364242/1/Remnant-of-the-Key Remnant of the Key]]", [[spoiler: Ruby eventually becomes the second love to Sora in Chapter 12. The rest of Team SLVR and Sora's friends believe that Ruby is the key to bringing Sora back to his old self after he seemingly lost Kairi during the Second Keyblade War, in chapter 11 Sora and Ruby share their first kiss but pulled away after realizing what he was doing, but the following chapter reveals that he has indeed fallen for her when having a talk with Roxas, Blake and Yang, and Sora and Ruby confess their feeling for one another during the dance and become an OfficalCouple.]]
