* In ''Manga/OnePiece'', when Luffy uses Gear 2nd, his skin color becomes pink, due to all the blood being pumped rapidly through his body.

* Super Sonic and the other SuperMode characters from ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog''.
** With the two notable exceptions of Tails and Knuckles, who either just glow or gain auras around themselves. In ''VideoGame/Sonic3AndKnuckles'' they would glow between their normal colors and a lighter shade when they went super but this was dropped when they canonically achieved super state in ''VideoGame/SonicHeroes''.
** Blaze the Cat in ''[[VideoGame/SonicRushSeries Sonic Rush]]'' not only changes color (going from lavender to pink after becoming Burning Blaze) but even her coat changes color, going from purple to red.

* The Trance ability in ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyIX''. Zidane's skin (or fur, [[DontExplainTheJoke since he looks like a monkey]]) changes to pink. Vivi's clothes change to white. Steiner's armor gets green details. Freya's clothes change to purple. Quina's skin color changes to black. Eiko gets white clothing and yellow hair. Scarlet Head Amarant becomes [[IncrediblyLamePun Purple Head Amarant]]. Garnet gets pink skin and yellow hair and clothes. [[BigBad Kuja]]'s purple robes and silver hair both [[TurnsRed turn red]]. Unlike the other examples, [[OneWingedAngel this is not a good thing]].

** Series/KamenRiderBlade's armor is blue and silver, but the silver parts turn gold as he escalates to his Jack and King Forms.

** Series/KamenRiderWizard's base "Style" forms are black with colored gems. Dragon Styles reverse this, featuring the colors more prominently than the black. Infinity Style and later Infinity Dragon Style turn him silver. Infinity Dragon Gold Mode turns him gold.

* When ComicBook/{{Sunspot}} uses his mutant power to absorb sunlight, his entire body turns pitch black and is surrounded with a yellow glow. This is explained as him draining the 'ambient light' from his skin.

* Very common with modern Franchise/{{Kamen Rider}}s. Here's just a few, and many follow the LawOfChromaticSuperiority.

** ''Series/KamenRiderKuuga'' started the tradition of being a SwissArmyHero with different-colored forms. ''Series/KamenRiderBlackRX'' may have begun form-changing in its current form, but ''he'' got ''total'' redesigns. Kuuga gets a rainbow of colors and only a few small design changes.
** With ''Series/KamenRiderKiva,'' only his chest and the limb that holds the weapon change color.
** Series/KamenRiderHibiki becomes red in his Hibiki Kurenai form.
** The red-and-black Series/KamenRiderFaiz goes all-black with white accents for Accel Form and all-red with black accents for Blaster Form.
** From ''Series/KamenRiderDouble'', ''half'' of Double's suit changes, as he's made of two guys and each has access to (initially) three forms. The different forms affect each other so that the same power will be wielded in different ways (for example, Joker makes it so that a power is applied to the body. Trigger has a gun. Luna Joker has stretchy limbs. Luna Trigger does ''not,'' but the shots from the Trigger Magnum will bend to hunt down targets.)
*** Kamen Rider Accel from the same series starts out as red, then gets a SuperMode that turns him blue (after briefly turning yellow as part of a traffic-light motif). In the post-series movie, he gets another upgrade that's [[GoldenSuperMode gold]] / yellow.
** ''Series/KamenRiderOOO'' has different forms for head, body, and legs, seeming to be the writers saying "if two was cool, three is better!" However, Eiji's leg form won't do something different depending on his head form. He must still decide which three powers complement each other best and are right for the job. Three of the ''same'' color is extremely powerful, but extremely taxing. Notably, while the suit is mainly black with colored designs on it regardless of form, the undersuit for his [=PuToTyra=] SuperMode is white instead, and an alternate SuperMode introduced in a movie (Super [=TaToBa=]) reverses the colors so that it has black trim on a colored suit.
** ''Series/KamenRiderFourze'' normally has a white suit, with power-up forms in red [Fire], gold [Elek], silver [Magnet], and blue [Cosmic]. His movie-exclusive Rocket States plays this trope even closer, being a palette-swapped version of his regular suit into orange.
** ''Series/KamenRiderWizard'' takes this to massive extremes. His base form is black with red [Fire], blue [Water], green [Wind] or yellow [Land] gems. Dragon Styles reverse this, featuring the colors more prominently than the black. Infinity turns him silver. Infinity Dragon Gold Mode turns him Gold.
** ''Series/KamenRiderGaim''[='s=] SuperMode, Kiwami Arms, changes his suit from blue-and-orange to white.
** ''Series/KamenRiderGhost'' is mainly black with orange accents by default. An upgrade to that form turns him mostly red. His next major upgrade returns to the black-with-colored-accents scheme, but his late-series SuperMode is white.
** ''Series/KamenRiderExAid'' goes from pink (Action Gamer) to mint green and orange (Double Action Gamer) to gold (Muteki Gamer).
** ''Series/KamenRiderBuild'' generally switches colors depending on the powerset he's using the same way Double does, but usually defaults to one that's red and blue. Using a "Hazard" SuperpoweredEvilSide upgrade drains all color from the suit and turns it pure black. His SuperMode is white, with blue-and-red trim (in the same pattern as the original form).
** ''Series/KamenRiderSaber'', rather than getting a completely redesigned suit for his Xross Saber SuperMode, just has his base form suit repainted with a CelestialBody pattern (though this does extend to any and all alternate forms that build off of that base). WordOfGod is that it's a reference to ''Stronger'', who similarly had some color changes instead of a total redesign.

* ''Franchise/SuperSentai'' usually averts this trope, as a Red Ranger's SuperMode normally adds decoration to the suit but keeps him red. ''Series/UchuSentaiKyuranger'', however, makes Shishi Red's SuperMode (Shishi Red Orion) almost completely white.

* Super Sonic and the other SuperMode characters from ''VideoGame/SonicTheHedgehog''.

* In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZelda'', there is a magic ring that reduces damage. It also changes Link's clothes from green to light blue. An even better ring makes them red. Due to a programming quirk (shared palettes), the merchant's and some other character's clothes also change color to match, as will some of the trim on Link's equipment.

* In VideoGame/BreathOfFireIII, Ryuu's ultimate dragon form, the Kaiser, simply turns him gold while pumping up his stats and giving him new powers in addition to the Skills he already knew.

** Series/UltramanTiga changes colour when he changes type. It should be noted that Tiga's Multitype bears a variety of colours. If he changes to his Power Type, he turns red, while in Sky Type his colours are predominantly purple. If he assumes his Glitter Type, which is his strongest form, he becomes gold.

* The Comicbook/IncredibleHulk, of course - when Banner turns into the Hulk, his body changes color to green, or sometimes gray. Jen Walters' ComicBook/SheHulk turns green as well (and has occasionally gone gray), while Rick Jones as A-Bomb turns blue, Hulk's son Skaar turns into a gray shade of green (so he is often gray or green, depending on the colorist), and ComicBook/RedHulk and Red She-Hulk turn red.

* In a reference to the Comicbook/IncredibleHulk, Thog the half-orc from ''WebComic/TheOrderOfTheStick'' normally pale green skin turns a deeper emerald shade when entering his barbarian rage and his pants randomly turn purple (regardless of their original color).

* In ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZelda'', there is a magic ring that reduces damage. It also changes Link's clothes from green to light blue. An even better ring makes them red. Due to a programming quirk, the merchant's and some other character's clothes also change color to match.

* ''Film/SonicTheHedgehog22022'': [[spoiler:When Eggman absorbs the power of the Master Emerald, his red and black coat change to black and green.

''Anime/DragonBallZSuperAndroid13'': After absorbing the components of Androids #14 and #15, Android #13's skin turns blue with grey areas on his shoulders, stomach, chest, and back. [[PowerDyesYourHair His hair also changes from white to orange]].
** ''Anime/DragonBallZBojackUnbound'': The eponymous villains has teal-blue skin and orange hair in his base form. His SuperMode turns his skin green and his hair red.

* Various ''Franchise/PrettyCure'' girls get to change colors from time to time with their Super Modes. The second ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCureMaxHeart'' movie had the girls turn gold, the ''Anime/YesPrettyCure5GoGo'' movie had Shining Dream's form be a subdued pink and the Super Silhouette forms in ''Anime/HeartcatchPrettyCure'' are extremely subdued in color to the point where it's almost completely white.

* ''Manga/DragonBall Z'': Kai-O-Ken turns the user's body flush with red, with a red aura, and Super Saiyan at the very least turns the fighter's hair gold with a gold aura. And then there is Frieza's "Golden Frieza" form, which is ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin.

* ''Series/PowerRangersMegaforce'': Jake is the only Ranger who changes colors in Super Mega Mode going from black to green. This is due to the fact that his Green Ranger suit is actually from a [[KaizokuSentaiGokaiger different Sentai series]] than the [[TensouSentaiGoseiger one]] the first season of ''Megaforce'' was adapting. Jake himself actually lampshades this and asks why he's got the wrong color, Gosei tries to explain it and states it's a "simple" reason... Before getting interrupted.

* ''Series/PowerRangersMegaforce'': Jake is the only Ranger who changes colors in Super Mega Mode going from black to green. This is due to the fact that his Green Ranger suit is actually from a [[KaizokuSentaiGokaiger different Sentai series]] than the [[TensouSentaiGoseiger one]] the first season of ''Megaforce'' was adapting.
