Despite his instability, they, as Yatzhee put it, "[[ZeroPunctuation inexplicably tolerate his behaviour when any sane person would be looking for rooms to rent in one hand while slamming the idiot's face in a drawer with the other]]".

* As the page quote shows, George and Loraine [=McFly=] in ''BackToTheFuture'', a geeky doormat of a pencil pusher and a frumpy, closed-minded housewife who only met because [[FlorenceNightingaleEffect her father accidentally hit him with her car]], so personality never entered into it. When their son Marty accidentally prevents that meeting via time travel, his efforts to patch up the time paradox include giving George the confidence to actually ask Loraine out, and when he gets back to 1985 his parents are HappilyMarried (and overall much more happy and successful).

YMMV, for one. For two, Harry was the point of view character, so who knows what they talked about that wasn\'t about him when he wasn\'t around?

* I've always seen Ron and Hermione from {{Harry Potter}} as this. They seem to have little in common, aside from their friendships with Harry.
** EXACTLY! What do they talk about when Harry's not there? The only conversations we know they had without Harry there were ''about'' Harry.

* On BuffyTheVampireSlayer, Seasons 2 and 3 give us Buffy and Angel. They have exactly one thing in common: Being good guys. Not only is their romance founded on the common interest of killing evil but they bring out the worst in each other. Angel is much less tense on [[{{Angel}} his own show]] then when he's around Buffy and when they're together she is way too obsessed with him. Thankfully, they broke up in S3.

** Don't forget Charlotte Lucas and Mr. Collins. Charlotte decides to marry the insufferable Mr. Collins in cold blood for the sake of a home but when we see her again she is coping very nicely with her spouse having carefully arranged their lives so they spend as little time together as possible. Unlike the Bennets the Collinses are quite happily content in their loveless marriage.

While Church has several PetTheDog moments when it comes to Caboose (he lets out a BigNo when he is supposedly killed, for example), his default position is complete and utter loathing for the Blue Team's rookie.

** The more obvious example would be Ray and Debra. Debra routinely physically and verbally attacks him - [[AbuseIsOkayWhenItsFemaleOnMale calling him an idiot, telling him he's not "allowed" to see his friends, pouring hot sauce from the stove onto him, shoving him into a bookshelf at full force, and so on]].
