What the manga confirms is the following: he was openly trying to [[{{Protectorate}} protect her]] from [[ManipulativeBastard Mouryoumaru]]. He sacrificed the chance to destroy [[AchillesHeel Naraku's heart]] to rush to her side when she was [[TearJerker dying]] and attempted to use [[HealingShiv Tenseiga]] to save her. It [[NoBodyLeftBehind failed]] but he stayed with her [[HeldGaze to the end]] and was touched by her [[GoOutWithASmile smile]]. When Mouryoumaru [[IDieFree mocked her death]], he [[BerserkButton lost all control]] and the [[WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway force of his assault]] shattered his sword and cracked Mouryoumaru's armour (both had a reputation for being unbreakable) - Mouryoumaru was flooded with Sesshoumaru's compassion through the breaking blade. Toutousai reforged Tenseiga to be a [[DangerousForbiddenTechnique weapon]] because an [[DefrostingIceQueen empty hole in his heart had been filled]] and was [[PowerAtAPrice full of anger and sorrow for Kagura]]. Sesshoumaru [[ThePromise vowed over his reforged blade]] to make sure Kagura hadn't died in vain. Shortly afterwards, he began protecting [[DesignatedVictim Kohaku]] - the child Kagura had [[HeroicSacrifice died to save]].

However, there was no sign of romance between them throughout the first season, and the second pairs her with another character. The rage still hasn't died over that one.

* [[{{Gundam 00}} Setsuna F. Seiei]] has two; RebelliousPrincess Marina Ismail and BridgeBunny Feldt Grace.
