* Website/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses fandom tends to be, strangely, a breeding ground for this (and they're mostly DarkFic for some reason). ** ''Fanfic/TheWarOfTheMasters'' was a sprawling SharedUniverse that developed on the official forums during what became known as "The Great Content Drought".[[note]]A period of about two years before the release of the ''Legacy of Romulus'' expansion where no new content came out due to the game being starved for funds by its then-publisher Creator/{{Atari}}.[[/note]] Very much DarkerAndEdgier than the canon game, it posited {{Eldritch Abomination}}s called the Good Masters as a BiggerBad to both the Orion Syndicate and the Undine, along with political corruption in the Federation that led to a cluster of planets along the Klingon border declaring independence. Naturally it ended up very much OutdatedByCanon once storyline development resumed.

* The ''[[Fanfic/BloodTiesFullmetalAlchemist Tiesverse]]'' is a ''Anime/FullmetalAlchemist'' AU where Edward gets involved with vampires and [[{{Dhampyr}} dhampirs]] while on the other side of the Gate.

* The ''[[http://www.nsamo.net/SME/ Sailor Moon Expanded]]'' community was a prime example of a Fan Verse. The writings of over a dozen authors were combined with the goal of adding new and interesting characters, stories, and information to the ''Franchise/SailorMoon'' universe without contradicting established canon. In many instances, particularly in the works of Mark Latus, the expanded material is more interesting and concise than the original source. It [[DeadFic hasn't been updated with new material]] in quite some time, however.

* ''[[https://jusenkyo.fandom.com/wiki/The_Altered_Destinies The Altered Destinies]]'' is a huge series of AlternateUniverseFic that look into alternative histories for the characters from ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf''. The reason it is so big is that it is actually made up of multiple Fan Verses including some in Wiki/ThisVeryWiki. In fact due to its size even the author’s aren’t entirely sure which fanfics are a part of it. [[note]] Jim Bader admitted that he wasn’t aware of Fred Herriot’s work and Thy Inward Love is technically apart of it due to being crossover with The Bitter End.[[/note]]

* ''The Powerpuff Girls Declassified Universe'' is a fan-verse of dark ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'' reimaginings starting with ''Fanfic/ProjectPowerpuffDeclassified''.

* ''WesternAnimation/{{Daria}}'' fanfic has expanded outwards into what's actually known as the ' ''Daria Expanded Universe'' ', with such fandom-created characters as Lynn Cullen, Jim Vitale, Pat Hackney VII, Richard Rawlings, Steve the security guard, Julia Carlyle, Michael Fulton, Alfred Phelps, Veronica Morgendorffer and Col. Kyle Armalin [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters (and that's just a]] ''partial'' [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters listing]]) of ''Daria'' [[LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters Expanded Universe original characters]] freely interacting with the canon characters. (''Daria'' fans know these folks as if they had been on the show itself.) On the fandom's Wiki, there's actually a listing for the ' ''Daria Multiverse'' ', and many of the original characters have Wiki entries and histories as fully fleshed-out as the canon characters.

* ''Fanfic/ImmortalityProtocolCyFox'' is a fanfic-verse derived from ''Franchise/SonicTheHedgehog'' which takes place ExtyYearsFromNow in what is perceived to be our reality (minus the obvious creation of the Sonic games in [[TheNineties the 1990s]])
