When considering the future of fictional characters, children are often a big part of it -- moreso if we're talking about a fictional ''couple''. However, if the story does not give any indication that [[BabiesEverAfter kids are on the way]], fans often take it upon themselves to imagine hypothetical children (or further-removed descendants) for canon characters. These kids are Fan-Created Offspring, often colloquially referred to as "fankids" and "ship kids."

* ''Webcomic/ShipWarAU'' is a ''WesternAnimation/StarVsTheForcesOfEvil'' fancomic about Elizabeth Butterfly (Star/Marco) and Jam Diaz (Marco/Jackie Lynn), both coming from alternate timelines to ensure their birth in the main one.

* ''FanFic/ReturnToHinamizawa'' has quite a few. Akito and Kotone are the children of Shion and Satoshi; Saki is Satoko's child with a ([[HasTwoMommies female]]) OriginalCharacter; Kizuna is the daughter of Rika and Okamura (the kid who had a crush on her in the original series). They are also frequently created as the logical extension of a {{ship|ping}}, canon or not, and can become a RecurringFanonCharacter among shippers. Often they will be PatchworkKids, strongly taking after both parents. They can star in a KidFic or a SpinOffspring story, either by themselves or alongside any canon children.

** A handful of families from the time period of the original show have been confirmed as having descendants in the present day - the current King is descended from Prince Blueblood, and members of the Apple, Belle (as in Sweetie Belle) and Pants (as in Fancy Pants) families have been mentioned.
** [[spoiler: Trixie's descendent, Violet Lulamoon, the Magi Supreme of the Magi-Of-Stars Guard, is descended from Trixie - the "Blue Sorceress" of legend - though she doesn't know it.]]

By extension, so is her mentioned cousin Mango Cake.
