Hitler takes a swing at Cap but learns too late from the Skull that Cap's [[SuperReflexes defensive reflexes]] are beyond his control as the superhero blocks the Leader's fist with his shield.

* In ''Literature/{{Dune}}'', Paul is used to attacking slowly while sword-fighting in order to circumvent the deflector shields that are common in the empire. (His defenses, on the other hand, are appropriately fast.) When forced into a knife fight to the death against an opponent who had never fought with a shield before, despite being clearly far more skilled than his opponent, Paul couldn't make a killing blow as he kept slowing his strikes (which would be perfect for getting through a shield, but a burden here) and had never killed a man before. Unfortunately, this leads spectators to believe that he is being incredibly cruel by dragging out his opponent's inevitable death.

For example, you'll end up with American characters from American TV shows or movies using slang/terms from countries they're not in or visited (such as "lessons" for a high school class rather than "periods") pretty much because the author didn't bother to look up the right terms and just simply defaulted to their own dialect. The reverse is also true. The same goes for spellings, mostly in words that have the "-ise" ending in non-American English (like "realise"/"realize") or if a word has a "u" or "o" in it (like "humour"/"humor" and "behaviour"/behavior"). * A key rule of Ultimate Frisbee is that the disc can be moved down the field ''only'' by passing. The rules forbid carrying it (and it can't by nature be kicked or dribbled), so players get used to stopping while they catch and looking for an open teammate further down the field the entire time they're in possession. HilarityEnsues when Ultimate players switch to just about any code of football.

* ''Literature/FifthQuarter'': Vree suffers from this when ambushed by [[OurZombiesAreDifferent murdered soldiers]] compelled to obey the [[{{Nercromancer}} mad Bard Kars]]. They are noticeably slower than even garrison troops set to the peaceful interior would be and close quarters combat enables her to resist the functional "someone-else's-problem" effect they have on most of the living; but she takes several hits before Bard Karlene's song stops them because she had so much trouble adjusting to their immunity to pain, blood loss, and fatigue on the fly. She does better during a later encounter but notes the effort it takes to focus on structurally important tendons rather than no-longer-vital organs and thinks about how she would trade all her daggers for one good joint-wrecking club.

* A pirate with [[SeadogPegLeg]] a peg leg, [[HookHand hook hand]], and [[EyepatchOfPower eyepatch]] describes to a landlubber how he came to receive each of them. He tells of how he lost his leg to a shark and lost his hand in a skirmish with the Royal Navy. Lastly, he explains that the eyepatch was from an incident when he glanced up and a seagull crapped in his eye. When the landlubber asks if seagull crap is really that dangerous, the pirate explains that it happened on his first day with the hook.

* ''Manga/AttackOnTitan'': The Cart Titan is unusually among Titan Shifters for 2 reasons: the first is that it is quadrupedal, and the second is that it has very high endurance, being able to stay transformed for months at a time. This has the side effect of making it difficult for the user to readjust walking on 2 legs when they return to human form.
