** That being said, in situations where there is no audience, the format is the same as that of the original. The call-and-response cue was referred to as a "Reverian cue", named after its originator, by Leonard Braker; over time in the RP it gets shortened to "RC" and later gets corrupted by Galarian audiences due to a mishearing and British accent puns as "an ozzie". It spreads, and eventually the phrase "GIVE US AN OZZIE" is getting screamed at stadiums left and right by fans towards anyone who uses a Z-Ring, Mega Stone, or Tera Orb.

* ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings'': "The Ent and the Entwife" is written as a back-and-forth duet between a male and a female Ent. In the first four verses, the two alternate between the Ent pleading for the Entwife to join him in his forests and the Entwife rebuffing him and instead praising her farmlands. The last two verses instead discuss the world's eventual death, with the Ent mourning the death of forests and the Entwife the death of fields, before singing the last lines -- a promise to find each other and seek a better land -- in harmony.

** The Lament for Boromir is formatted as a version of this where the singers ask the West, South and North Winds for news of Boromir, with the main speaker singing a question, the wind singing a reply, and the main speaker singing a response. The first two winds deny any knowledge of Boromir's fate and tell the singer to ask the North Wind, who in turn reports Boromir's death.

Cartman interrupts a school announcement on distracted driving to sing his own [[AttentionWhore attention-seeking]] anti-suicide song "Eric, We Don't Want You to Die". He complains about his life and declares his intent to commit suicide. He thinks everyone will be begging him not to do it, so the chorus consists of pre-recorded kids' voices saying "Eric, we don't want you to die! / Eric, give life a try! / Eric, oh God no, Eric!" In practice, nobody sings along and just stares at him blankly. Cartman even has to mime someone saying one of the lines: "Eric, we don't want you to die! / You're so cool! / We'd be sad at school!"

Snow White is singing into a well, and it echos out her voice.\n* In ''Film/SilkStockings,'' Steve sings "Paris Loves Lovers" about the joys of GayParee, while Ninotchka interjects disapproving comments:\n--> Paris ''(Capitalistic!)'' loves lovers ''(Characteristic!)'' \n--> For lovers ''(Sensualistic!)'' it's heaven above ''(They should be atheistic)''\n--> Paris ''(Imperialistic!)'' tells lovers ''(I'm pessimistic)''\n--> love is supreme, wake up your dream and make love ''(That's anti-communistic!)''\n* [[Music/DavidBowie "Magic Dance"]] from the movie ''Film/{{Labyrinth}}''.\n-->"You remind me of the babe"\n-->"What babe?"\n-->"The babe with the power."\n-->"What power?"\n-->"The power of voodoo."\n-->"Who do?"\n-->"You do."\n-->"Do what?"\n-->"Remind me of the babe!"\n** The exchange is based on a 1947 Cary Grant/Shirley Temple movie called ''The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer'' in which Grant's character is trying to get out of dating Temple's character by making a bad first impression to her great-uncle, leading to their ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfv1Jx3_PRs "You remind me of a man..!"]]'' exchange.\n* The "Plagues" song from ''WesternAnimation/ThePrinceOfEgypt'' is a back-and-forth between Moses and Ramses noting the way their relationship has changed, and Moses pleading for the Hebrews to be freed and Rameses refusing. The animation behind the song is a montage of Egypt being devastated by the plagues.\n* Dr. Facilier's VillainSong in ''WesternAnimation/ThePrincessAndTheFrog,'' taking many cues from the aforementioned Minnie The Moocher:\n-->I've got Friends on the Other Side! (''He's got Friends on the Other Side!'')\n** [[DarkReprise And later on...]]\n-->''[[IronicEcho ARE YOU READY?!]]'' ('''NO!''' I'm not ready at all!)\n* From the Manga/{{Bleach}} ImageSong CD featuring Ichigo and Zangetsu, we have "Zan," which features call and response from Ichigo and Zangetsu, then [[SuperPoweredEvilSide Hollow Ichigo]] and Ichigo.\n* "Zydrate Anatomy" from ''Film/RepoTheGeneticOpera''. Slightly subverted, in that the responses become more dulled as the drugs take effect in the chorus.\n* The VillainSong "Hellfire" from Disney's ''WesternAnimation/{{The Hunchback of Notre Dame|Disney}}'' is a Call And Response Song with a BilingualBonus. While Frollo is insisting that he's not to blame, a chorus sings the Act of Contrition, "''Mea Culpa/Mea Culpa/Mea Maxima Culpa''", which, [[BilingualBonus when translated from]] [[OminousLatinChanting Ominous Latin]], is "My fault/My fault/My most grievous fault", and completely negates what he says.\n** "Stay In Here" is one between Frollo and Quasimodo:\n--> You are deformed (I am deformed)\\\nAnd you are ugly (And I am ugly)\\\nAnd these are crimes for which the world shows little pity\\\nYou cannot comprehend (You are my one defender)\n* "I'm Goin' North" (lyrics by Frank Loesser) from the wartime movie musical ''Thank Your Lucky Stars''.\n* "Tallahassee" (by Frank Loesser) from the movie musical ''Variety Girl''.\n* ''WesternAnimation/{{Frozen|2013}}'' has "For the First Time in Forever (reprise)", which has Anna attempting to encourage Elsa to come back, while Elsa resists.\n* The opening number from ''WesternAnimation/RockAndRule'', "Born to Raise Hell", has some call-and-response.\n--> I hate you, you like me? \\\n''No!'' \\\nYou like our music, now, don'tcha? \\\n''No!'' \\\nIt's such a pity, you want me to go!\n\n[[AC:LiveActionTV]]\n* A scene in ''Series/JeevesAndWooster'' had the titular characters attempting the call-and-response portion of "Minnie the Moocher," which was somewhat hampered by Jeeves' VerbalTic of saying "sir" at the end of every line.\n* "For the Last Time, I'm Dominican" from the ''Series/{{Scrubs}}'' episode [[MusicalEpisode "My Musical"]] is a tango between Turk and Carla that takes the form of an argument:\n--> '''Carla:''' I've had it up to here\\\nSo let me make it very clear\\\nBecause I swear I'll never clue you in again\\\nEvery time that you profess\\\nI come from Puerto Rico ('''Turk:''' Yes?)\\\nFor the last time, Turk, I'm ''Dominican!''\\\n'''Turk:''' Let's not make a big to-do\\\nI was simply testing you\\\n'''Carla:''' Well, then, why'd you tell J.D. our baby's "Blaxican"?\\\n'''Turk:''' Babe, you know I know the truth!\\\n'''Carla:''' Well, I need a little proof\\\n[[LysistrataGambit So list all you know about me or no sex again.]]\n* [[Series/TheDailyShow Jon Stewart]] and Creator/StephenColbert's duet in the ''Series/TheColbertReport 2008'' Christmas special uses this, with Stewart trying to convince Colbert to try Hanukkah.\n* "Mahna Mahna" from ''Series/TheMuppetShow'' is an interesting example. Even though the song is complete nonsense, it is easy to tell what the argument is. The lead singer wants to improvise, and the backup singers want to stick to the original tune and lyrics.\n* In one episode of Series/PeeWeesPlayhouse, Pee-Wee talks about lip-syncing, and lip-syncs to an old song called "That Certain Feeling", which is done like this.\n\n[[AC:{{Radio}}]]\n* ''Radio/ImSorryIHaventAClue'' has the recurring game "Songstoppers", where one panellist sings the first line of a song and their teammate comes up with a (spoken) response that would bring the song to an immediate end. A sample round, as played by Omid Djalili and Jan Ravens:\n-->'''Omid''': ''[[Music/PinkFloyd We don't need no education...]]''\n-->'''Jan''': Actually, you do need to be informed about double negatives!\n-->'''Jan''': ''[[Music/SuzanneVega My name is Luka...]]''\n-->'''Omid''': I don't care what your name is, can you drive a lorry?\n-->'''Jan''': ''[[Music/SineadOConnor It's been seven hours and fifteen days...]]''\n-->'''Omid''': The next train arriving on Platform 2 is the delayed Southern service from Redhill!\n-->'''Omid''': ''I'm coming home, I've done my time...''\n-->'''Jan''': Oh, didn't you hear the parole board's decision?\n-->'''Jan''': ''[[Music/WhitneyHouston If I should stay, I would only be in your way...]]''\n-->'''Omid''': Should've thought of that before you glued yourself to the [=M25=], love!\n-->'''Omid''': ''[[Music/{{Queen}} Tonight, I'm gonna have myself a real good time...]]''\n-->'''Jan''': Yeah, I left some tissues out!\n-->'''Jan''': ''Red and yellow and pink and green, purple and orange and blue...''\n-->'''Omid''': Does that mean I've failed the urine test, doctor?\n* ''Radio/NewDynamicEnglish'' often features Jazz Chants, which are usually spoken dialogue (except for one) with jazz music.\n\n[[AC:WesternAnimation]][[/folder]]

* The second [[TheAnimeOfTheGame anime adaptation]] of ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'', ''[[Anime/Persona4GoldenTheAnimation The Golden Animation]]'', has a frantic, orchestral hip-hop song by Lotus Juice during the fight between [[spoiler:the protagonist Yu and the big bad, Tohru Adachi]]. Lotus Juice sings for both characters (with the latter character receiving a heavy filter over his lines) - [[spoiler:Yu tries to sympathize with and calm down Adachi, whereas Adachi is content with being nihilistic. With the end of the song, it's suggested Yu is able to talk down Adachi, which manifests in the show itself as Adachi making something vaguely-resembling a heel-face turn to help take down a bigger fish]].
