* TheBigBangTheory seems to be heading this way. Amy Farrafowler was introduced as Sheldon's DistaffCounterpart, right down to the {{Asexuality}} - until she, Penny, and Bernadette went out to a bar and she saw a hot guy, in which case she was flustered by her own reactions to said man. So men are capable of being totally asexual, yet women who seem to be are simply waiting for the right man to turn them on, whether or not he has any redeeming qualities aside from his looks?

But today, the usual representation of women as CloserToEarth flat-out negates the plausibility of AllWomenAreLustful, since sex drives, let alone sexual depravity, are considered incompatible with high moral standards. Which leads to the depiction of women as virtuous victims with a "pure" and wholesome sexuality as opposed to men's "dirty" and "degrading" perversion. Turn this aspect to eleven, you get the LifetimeMovieOfTheWeek.

* Christopher Ryan and Cacilda Jetha, authors of ''Sex at Dawn: The Prehistoric Origins of Modern Sexuality'' posit that men and women were ''equally'' lustful in prehistoric hunter-gatherer clans and challenges the notion that women are non-sexual beings who are the reluctant gatekeepers of male satisfaction. In [[http://www.nerve.com/content/sex-at-dawn this interview]], Ryan asks why, if women are not sexual beings and have little use for sex, do so many cultures employ so many tactics to limit and suppress female sexuality (FGM, slut-shaming, cloistering, etc.)? However, Ryan and Jetha blame the rise of agriculture, and the concepts of ownership and the importance of paternal certainty, for giving rise to the notion that female sexuality is something that must be regulated.

Back in Ancient times, this trope actually used to exist in the stead of AllMenArePerverts. It was assumed that women were too sex-crazed to say no to sex, while men were supposed to be the virtuous ones and that being too sexual with women was an insult to a man's virility. Such beliefs created the LysistrataGambit, which was thought as comically absurd back then.

* This is what the popular perception mostly was during the 16th and 17th centuries. They knew enough about sex to be aware that climax generally takes longer for women to achieve, so they extrapolated from that to women being insatiable and unable to voluntarily refuse sex once they'd had it (widows were considered basically nymphomaniacs). This also went with religious belief in "Grandmother Eve" -- that is, the idea that Eve seduced Adam into sinning because she couldn't control her own lust.
