* The Christian rock group Petra has a few examples:

** On ''Double Take'' released in 2000, lead guitarist Pete Orta sings "Breath In", a song he wrote. This would be the only time lead vocalist John Schlitt did not sing lead on a song since joining the band in 1986.

* Music/TomPetty, on some tours, would let one of the other Heartbreakers sing. You can see this on the 1992 VHS "Take the Highway."[[/folder]]

* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'' has had a few, such as "Pip" (which was about [[Literature/GreatExpectations Pip]]) and "Butters' Very Own Episode" (which is [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Butters' very own episode]]). Other examples include "Erection Day" and "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset", which focused on Jimmy and Wendy, respectively.

* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'': Right-hand man and perennial background character [[TheConsigliere Kozo Fuyutsuki]] gets one in Episode 21, ''The Birth of NERV'', where he's interrogated and relates the backstory for the series via his personal history with the major players.

* ''MySoCalledLife'' had one: "Life of Brian".

* Marigold by Music/{{Nirvana}} has Dave Grohl (before he became a well known frontman with Foo Fighters) sing lead while Kurt Cobain played the drums.

* The Interlude chapters in ''Literature/{{Worm}}'' each switch to the POV from the protagonist to some other character. Each plot arc ends with one, but the author writes extra such as donation bonuses.

*** Forget a day. Iwata himself [[CrowningMomentOfAwesome put on a Luigi cap and declared 2013 the Year of Luigi.]] Not only is ''VideoGame/LuigisMansionDarkMoon'' coming out in late March, but the fourth Mario and Luigi title ''and'' [[VideoGame/NewSuperLuigiU Luigi-centered DLC]] for ''VideoGame/NewSuperMarioBrosU'' are both confirmed for release in the year.

** A second flashback arc to twenty years before the story starts gives the spotlight to Ichigo and Uryuu's parents. Their fathers have only minor roles in the story, usually when their sons need help, and their mothers are both deceased. This arc therefore puts Isshin [[spoiler: Shiba]], Masaki [[spoiler: Kurosaki]], Ryuuken Ishida and Kanae [[spoiler: Katagiri]] firmly on the map and produces some very surprising reveals about all four characters.

* Urahara Kisuke from ''Manga/{{Bleach}}'' became the focus of a flashback arc set one hundred years prior to the series proper. Other characters prominently featured include: Yoruichi, Tessai, Aizen, Gin and [[spoiler:The Vizards]].

* In ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7550345/1/Lucky-Star-After-Story Lucky Star: After Story]]'', original supporting characters, [[HeterosexualLifePartners Mariko Aratani and Chiyoko Sakamoto]], got a 3-chapter arc, [[{{Flashback}} showing flashbacks of how they became friends]] combined with scenes from the present day, which lasted from Chapters 23 through 25. At the end of Chapter 30, it was confirmed that 2 other original characters, Ayaka Suzuki and Nanami Tanaka, will also get their own arc.

* In ''[[http://www.fanfiction.net/s/7550345/1/Lucky-Star-After-Story Lucky Star: After Story]]'', original supporting characters, Mariko Aratani and Chiyoko Sakamoto, got a 3-chapter arc, [[{{Flashback}} showing flashbacks of how they became friends]] combined with scenes from the present day, which lasted from Chapters 23 through 25.

* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'' with "Zuko Alone", "Appa's Lost Days" and "Sokka's Master". The first showed what the main antagonist (well, by that point, he [[AntiHero wasn't quite that anymore]]) did and thought about when he wasn't, well, antagonizing; the second told a story that explained where the main character's pet had been and who he met along the way since his four-week disappearance following his kidnapping; and the third depicted PluckyComicRelief character Sokka [[TookALevelInBadass taking a level in badass]] through sword training.
** There was also "The Beach" for the Zuko, Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee, which served as a means of exploring the dynamics between the four and what makes them tick cleverly disguised as a BeachEpisode.
** Also, "The Boiling Rock," a two-parter that sets up the friendship of Sokka and Zuko and has them breaking in and out of the Fire Nation's most secure prison. It's all kinds of badass.
*** The third quarter of season 3 was one episode for each character sharing this trope with Zuko. Toph even {{lampshade|Hanging}}s this in the finale, noting that she hasn't had her own "life-changing field trip" with him.
** Last but not least, there's "The Tales of Ba Sing Se", with six short tales focusing on one character (or two in one tale) each, including the tales of [[TomboyAndGirlyGirl Toph and Katara]], [[TheMentor Iroh]] and of [[TeamPet Momo]].

* Each book in the ''StarTrekTyphonPact'' series focuses on one member state (sometimes two) of the titular Typhon Pact. Many of these nations were previously underexplored or left as minor players in the ''Franchise/StarTrek'' MythArc.

* ScriptFic ''Fanfic/CalvinAndHobbesTheSeries'' has "Confessions of a Prank-Loving Tiger" for [[CloudCuckoolander Soc]][[ThePrankster rates]], as well as "Hypercube" and "An MTM Episode".
