* SpottingTheThread: Harry is made a juror on a murder trial, and he very quickly realises that there are a few things that don't add up: the accused murderer is a big, tough, muscular guy who was beaten severely by the victim, who was much smaller, didn't work out and didn't have a weapon. The murderer claims that he attacked the victim because the victim was attacking a small girl, but there was no sign of the girl afterwards. And Harry notes that a supposedly open and shut trial like this should be handled by the DA and made the centre of a media circus, not handled by an ADA who looks like he's fresh out of college. He concludes that if the accused was telling the truth, then the victim wasn't human, and he's right: the victim was a White Court vampire, and the murderer had previously been one of Marcone's men; Marcone pulled strings to get Harry on the jury, knowing that Harry would want justice.

Me and the kid will roast some marshmallows,” and it was one of the signs of him becoming TheUnfettered. In "Zoo Day", Maggie asks, “What if I set something on fire?”, and Harry replies, “Maybe we’ll roast some marshmallows,” but this time, it's a lighthearted joke meant to reassure Maggie that he is with her and nothing bad is going to happen.

* SunkCostFallacy: Extensively discussed in "Bigfoot on Campus" in reference to the White Court. Both Harry and River Shoulders reflect on how the White Court is founded on the MotivationalLie started by "some ancient bastard/bitch" stating that it's ''okay'' for them to be emotion-draining monsters. The aforementioned bastard/bitch's descendants have then been intentionally obscuring the truth from their own children until it's too late, and subsequently invoke this trope afterwards so that the new vampire will fall into line and accept all the Court's teachings as valid because the only alternative would be realizing that there's ''no'' excuse for having '''killed''' another human being. Related to this, [[spoiler:Charles Barrowill]] can't accept the possibility that he might not have been a murderer if his parents had just been honest with him, and so tries to use an AppealToTradition argument (which ultimately just boils down to this trope) to make sure that [[spoiler:his daughter grows up to be as much of a miserable and inhuman monster as he is]].

* UglyGuyHotWife: Downplayed in "Bigfoot on Campus"; Connie Barrowill is a White Court vampire and so is inhumanly beautiful, but is mentioned to actually look [[PlainJane relatively plain]] when she's not using her power. Meanwhile, Irwin Pounder - a scion of the Forest People - isn't described as particularly attractive, but his HeroicBuild is mentioned as being one of his most attractive features to Connie and also [[SheCleansUpNicely cleans up nicely]].
