* DeconstructedTrope: Of HearingVoices. Riley hearing voices in her head is a scary proposition for everyone involved in her life. And the worst part of it is that because they can't turn it off, it can make things like Hockey or School a bit more difficult to be focused on. And since this isn't a normal thing either, it turns into Riley and the emotion's big secret that they don't know how to handle since they're all VERY real, but have no way to truly prove it to the people around them. At the same time though, meeting the emotions is like Riley meeting 5 new friends, and in some ways they are great confidants and advisors at different points in her life.

* CelebrityParadox: Given that ''WesternAnimation/ToyStory'' and [[WesternAnimation/WreckItRalph Fix it Felix Jr.]] exist in universe as video games, you have to wonder if there's any paradoxes with Disgust sounding like Taffyta from Sugar Rush (if that exists) or if the fic's version of Pixar created ''Inside Out'' as a movie yet...or if one of Riley's mind workers thinks that he sounds like Hamm at all.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: When you think about, the cast of this fic is pretty sizable. You have the main 6 characters (Riley and emotions, with Joy and Fear being slightly more important), Supporting cast students and parents plus THEIR emotions, coaches, teachers, mind workers. There's a lot of characters in this story compared to the film, even if some of them aren't as complex.

** Fear is going through this all the time now that Riley can hear them, wondering if this connection might eventually hurt Riley through amnesia, unconsciousness, or even death! It only gets worse for him when [[JourneyToTheCenterOfTheMind Riley is able to visit the Mind World]].

* TheMasquerade: If you started telling people you could hear your emotions talking in your head, how would you think others would react? Needless to say, both Riley and the Emotions don't want to mention anything about their new reality to anyone else, since they're both certain that they aren't crazy and don't want to be called so.
** Then again, other people's minds work that way too; most of them just aren't aware. And we've already seen how people react when [[spoiler:Riley mentions talking to her emotions even as a metaphor]]. So maybe she wouldn't get the reaction she'd expect.
