[[http://hh-studios.tumblr.com/ Happy Hope Studios]], commonly shortened to HH Studios or simply HH, is a tumblr-based [[JournalRoleplay roleplay]] based on the visual novel ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaTriggerHappyHavoc''. Twenty-two elite high school students are on their way to Happy Hope Studios to participate in live television interviews when things go horribly wrong... They wake up inside the film studio, trapped by twin robots Monty and Sally, and they are informed that they will be trapped there indefinitely. The only way out: murder a fellow student and get away with it!

HH Studios began on the 18th of June 2014 and was wrapped up with a trial summary in June 2015. It now has an in-progress sequel, Mr Monty's Neighbourhood, which started in May 2016.

->''I care not whether you think my talent is useful. I practice for my own enjoyment. The rest is a mere afterthought.''

Rin hails from a very old, wealthy, and traditional family. Both sides of his family are deeply rooted in the samurai caste, and Rin is quite proud of and invested in the family history. He is very serious and composed, and rarely shows any outward emotion, maintaining a frosty exterior. Rin began practising kyudo at a very young age; he is among the most skilled practitioners in the world and is currently undefeated in competition.
[[spoiler:He is revealed to be Kita Yasei's murderer in the second chapter 5 trial, but commits suicide before Monty can execute him.]]

Though not a painter in the traditional sense, Amane Natsuhiko comes from a family of famous artists, so it's only natural he would get some of that talent. His specialty? Painting the detailing on carousel horses. His work is renowned by carnivals and fairs, and his speed and skill surely show through. [[quoteright:108:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ryou_7582.png]]
->''(quote)''

Ryou is one of the most controversial operators in the world of Robot Combat. Brought up around a team of animatronics appearing on the briefly-popular Machine Wars show, Ryou built his first fleaweight robot on his own in elementary school. When there was a problem with the rest of Tatsu Dream Robotics’ visas, Ryou was tapped to pilot their father’s Mighty Dragoon to victory.

Since the end of the show, he’s led the team in work on a new heavyweight competitor- Lucky Dagger. The robot’s devastating arsenal of wedges, spikes, and lifting arms quickly led the team to a controversial victory at the second annual Robot Championship Combat Mech-War Pay Per View event. The finish seemed such a wash that Ryou was called out and challenged to a rematch, which he accepted just before heading off to one of the most prestigious academies in Japan. [[quoteright:108:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/15a_494.png]]
->''I’m kinda just a guy to the side. Sure hope we get along anyway.''

The quirky bassist of Evening Moonshine, the three-piece band taking the pop-punk world by storm. Born and raised in Shibuya, Tokyo, he and his parents lived in a small apartment. He was hardly a popular nor academic guy at school, his closest friends being Nozawa Yasue and Shunma Kouda. At the age of ten his music tastes led him to start taking bass lessons, and when Kouda heard of this, he roped Kazuya and Yasue into forming a band.

The band quickly got its popularity from its stellar solos and catchy beats, which Kazuya thought of while Kouda wrote the lyrics and Yasue handled special effects. After releasing a successful demo at the age of sixteen, the members of the band hit it big, performing at various concerts and releasing several hit singles which consistently topped the charts.
[[spoiler:He survives the studios, and leaves after the final trial.]]

** [[spoiler:Backfires in the second chapter five trial. Suzume doesn't see the problem in crossing herself off the list of suspects since she knows that she didn't do it; she doesn't quite understand how this action comes across to the other students, and Rin takes the opportunity to try and use her as a scapegoat.]]
* [[spoiler: TheCuckooLanderWasRight: In the fourth trial she proposes the idea that maybe the killer was Monty or Sally, but it is swiftly dismissed by the studio's more intellectual individuals. After they bad end, it is revealed by Sally that Monty was indeed Yukie's killer, although not Natsuhiko's.]]
** [[spoiler:Happens again in the second chapter five trial, in which Suzume fervently defends Atieno's innocence and even directly accuses Rin. However, it is not until more evidence is discovered and a bad end proves Atieno's innocence that the other students believe her.]]
** Generally, Suzume plays with this trope: she's scatterbrained, ditsy and certainly not the sharpest, but her good memory is a beneficial asset and, especially as she gets more experience of being in trials, she can have flashes of insight from time to time. However, she rarely has the evidence or argumentative skills to win the other students over.

* CuteClumsyGirl
* FluffyTamer: More like Feathery Tamer

* GeniusDitz: Very, very talented with birds. Useless in pretty much every other area.
* HonorBeforeReason: [[spoiler:She faces criticism in chapter four's trial for being so dedicated to keeping her promise to a dead Natsu.]]
* IGaveMyWord: [[spoiler:In chapter 4's trial, she initially refuses to tell the other students that Natsu was only partially blind because she promised him not to tell. Eventually the other students coax the truth out of her. This actually hinders them rather than helping them, as they use it to reason that Natsu could have been the one to operate Lucky Dagger and kill Yukie; it leads to an incorrect guilty verdict for Natsu.]]
* LonelyRichKid: She's never really had a friend before going to the studios, largely due to the isolation of her childhood. Well, no friends that didn't have wings, anyway.
* MeaningfulName: Suzume means sparrow, while Aozora translates to 'blue sky'
* NatureLover
* OnlyFriend: To Natsuhiko (besides Anemone-chan, of course)
* PluckyGirl: True in general, but soars to new heights in [[spoiler:chapter five, when losing Koya (her only remaining close friend) pushes her so far into her misery that she completely turns around and gains a new-found vigour, becoming the most ardent believer in hope.]]
* RaisedByGrandparents: Raised by her grandmother alongside her aunt.
* SarcasmBlind
* SelectiveObliviousness: Her coping strategy for the mutual killing game. It doesn't last forever.
* SkirtOverSlacks: With her shorts. Actually intended as ModestyShorts, but she misjudged the length.
* [[spoiler:StickyFingers: Steals Kanna's bracelet impulsively. It's heavily implied (not least by her having the Snoop perk) that this wasn't a one-off incident, and it's all but confirmed when she talks of how her aunt always disapproved of her bad habit.]]
** [[spoiler:Rin uses this against her in the second chapter five trial, reasoning that the girl with a history of stealing could have been the one to steal an arrow to murder Yasei with. To which Suzume indignantly replies that she has put in lots of effort to keep her thievery in check.]]
* ThinkHappyThoughts: Overlaps with StepfordSmiler. Her sheer ability to force herself to be optimistic and ignore her own negative thoughts is one of the main reasons she's managed for so long without breaking completely.
* WideEyedIdealist: Even after the murder announcement and the first motive, Suzume is convinced that the whole thing is just an elaborate bonding exercise and that they will all leave the studios as best friends. Her idealism is slowly worn down throughout the course of the roleplay before it shatters completely in chapter 4.

The great granddaughter of a famous onnagata, Yukie is the first leader of an all-female troupe in nearly four centuries. After finding inspiration to write her critically-acclaimed play, The Ebbing Tide, the ban prohibiting women from performing in the theater was repealed. Following this movement, she joined the theater herself, using the skills that she had been taught by her mother and grandmother, which had supposedly been passed down since the dawn of Kabuki itself. Within several months, her abilities landed her the position of troupe leader, which she currently holds, although she temporarily passed the torch along once accepting the invitation to Happy Hope Studios. In contrast to most child prodigies, Yasei always knew she was going to be successful, she just wasn't sure what with. Throughout her childhood she rapidly cycled through interests, pausing on kendo but ultimately deciding on sword swallowing after a trip to the circus as a teenager. She got her start performing at home and posting videos online, some of her videos going viral due to her combination of sword swallowing and pole dancing, but didn't officially get famous until she appeared on a talent contest show with that combination as her signature. Even despite her success, which led to her traveling constantly to appear on stage, Hope's Peak didn't extend the invitation until she turned 18, just after she returned from a long hiatus from performing.

->''...Meow.''

Kanna was young when she started to dabble in jewellery, living with her grandmother and brother at Nekomeishi Onsen, an onsen her grandmother owned. Kanna started out small, making simple lucky charms for the shop in the onsen. The little charms sold well, and Kanna moved on to make simple bracelets, eventually necklaces. She upgraded her pieces to more intricate and expensive with the profits she got from the sale of her simple designs.
She got an apprenticeship at the age of only twelve, and her jewellery was put up for sale in a small goldsmiths store. They sold well, and Kanna was able to hone her skill further, testing out different methods and more expensive materials. Not long after she started selling her jewellery independently for whatever reason. She continued to learn the craft alone from the age of nearly fifteen and became nationally recognized after winning the grand prize from JJA Jewellery Design Awards at the Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair as the youngest jeweller ever recorded to do so.
The delicate and beautiful jewellery pieces Kanna makes have been featured on various magazines, some of her recent pieces have sold for high prices and have been worn by various celebrities, especially after she was admitted to Hope’s Peak as the Super High School Level Jeweller.

Born to a whaler father and a stay at home mother in the small village of Taijii, Umiko was a completely average young girl until a maritime accident during a "take your children to work" type event on her father's ship changed her completely, both mentally and physically. Formerly a studious young girl, Umiko lost all interest in academics and became enamored with cryptids, one of which she believes saved her. Her interest in the cryptids, and her claimed link with them, are what led to her (re)discovery of small packs of both the Honshū and Hokkaidō wolves, which had a technical status as cryptids due to their (supposed) extinction. These amazing finds, plus her continued research on the Ningen, are what led to her heading to the studio that fateful day. ->''Rus fo dah, you robot scrubs.''

Yara had always been a child absorbed in fantasy. When her parents moved from Brazil to Japan, she responded not with culture shock but with epoch shock. Developing an obsession with the Western historical fantasy genre and its take on swordplay, Yara fell in with a half-cosplay, half-larping group for whom she took on the task of crafting replica swords. When her customised props — in particular, her interpretations of the famed swords from fantasy series 'The Crowning Game' — drew more attention from the community, she rose to the challenge, taking on a blacksmithing apprenticeship and selling her swords through her online store.

The studio producing the TV serialisation contacted Yara, both intrigued by her creativity and looking to connect with the fanbase — and thus an alliance was born. Since producing an ensemble cast of weapons for the show, including Ron Snow’s sword ‘Talon’ and Maria Lark’s signature weapon ‘Pinprick’, her online business and her name in international internet fandom continue to thrive.
