His plan worked perfectly. She wasted her backrow and Mystical Space Typhoon on cards that could easily be replaced, and in her impatience to end the sham of a duel and shut up the babbling idiot, she threw one of her beloved XYZ monsters right into the path of a Mirror Force. leaving free to attack her directly.
*** On a larger scale, Marcus was also setting up a HeadsIWinTailsYouLose situation. If Gretel loses, then she just lost to an idiot, but if she wins, then she just wasted half an hour of her time.
** During the finals of the tournament, Marcus tricks the others into believing that his partner can read minds. This leads Denero (Who is terrified that Marcus will recognise him as a son of thieves and expose him to the other duelists.) Tries to turn the others against Marcus. Both Denero and Jurrac Meteor believe they have outwitted Marcus, but it was infact the other way around. Marcus lied about Gol'gar's mind reading ability in order to gauge the reactions from the others, [[BatmanGambit knowing that the ones who panicked would be the ones with something to hide]]. And [[UnwittingPawn Denero had fallen right into his trap.]]

* NotSoHarmless: He starts of as an absentminded CloudCuckooLander who get's Curbstomped during his first two duels. But during his duel Gretel he shows a surprising level of competance, Turning Gretel's own monsters against her, while unleashing a vicious psychological maniplulation against her.

Cute Shotaro Boy has been renamed to Adorably Precocious Child. The trope is a young child who is considered cute because they try to act mature and responsible beyond their years. So, that\'s not an example.
