It should be noted that she's doing this for pragmatic reasons and not out of the goodness of her heart.

However, if she joins the Student Council, she can come in late up to half an hour.
* LaughablyEvil: She has her moments, like in the "Raising the Strength Stat" video when she gleefully murders Kokona and prepares to dispose of her, only for her to be so physically weak that it takes her ''nine hours'' to drag her corpse halfway to the incinerator.
* LaughingMad: Can do this if you press the laugh button [[note]](Ctrl on keyboard or RB on controller)[[/note]] repeatedly. It calms her down. However, doing so in front of her classmates sullies her reputation. Doing it in front of a teacher gets you sent to the Guidance Counselor, and doing it in front of Senpai is an automatic GameOver.

* MaskOfSanity: [=YandereDev=] says that the phrase "Sanity" is somewhat of an inaccurate term for that mechanic, as Yan-chan has more than a few screws loose regardless. Instead, it tracks how obvious her true nature is to onlookers. If it's high, she'll be able to interact normally with her classmates. However, if it's too low, the mask slips and people will be able to notice that there's something off about her. SNAP Mode has her drop the mask completely.

* MeaningfulName: The [[BrandX Fakebook]] page for Akademi reveals her full name is Ayano Aishi. "Aishi", appropriately enough, is a mixture of "love" and "death". Additionally, the developer wanted a name with a "Yan" sound.
* ModestyShorts: She can wear spats to make her run faster. The game puts a lampshade on the modesty part by saying that if a woman only wears spats under her skirt, it still counts as a PantyShot to look at them, and wondering if they are for sporty girls or exhibitionists.
* MommysLittleVillain: [[spoiler:Her crazy mother is hoping for her to follow in her footsteps.]] Whether she does so is up to you.
* MoralSociopathy: If you choose to eliminate all your rivals peacefully, Ayano adheres to this trope, especially if you go the befriending or matchmaking route. Setting someone up with a boy they like, or helping them solve a huge crisis in their personal life, is a good deed, no question -- even if Ayano is an EmptyShell who's only doing it so her rivals won't steal Senpai from her.
* MultipleEndings: While Ayano doesn't have a MultipleChoicePast, and the [[StoryBranching branching]] within gameplay is minimal at best, the final game is set to take into account a number of factors – including but not limited to how she takes out her victims – which all affect what kind of person she becomes in the end, and how Senpai reacts to her.

* NobleDemon: Yandere-Dev insists that Yandere-chan is a monster through and through. Human emotions are completely alien to her and she's descended from a line of yanderes who are identically unemotional and amoral. She's raised to be absolutely ruthless in her pursuit of her perceived soulmate. That being said, how evil Yandere-chan is is up to player decisions. It should be noted that she's doing this for pragmatic reasons and not out of the goodness of her heart.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Having her SNAP after a game over through Senpai will make her go off the rails completely and beating the ever-loving hell out of any student who's unfortunate enough to be in her way without even flinching.
