* GhostLights: Her [[HalfHumanHybrid phantom half]], always present and independently visible around her. There's an Asian belief that human souls actually have two parts (Kon and Paku, hence her name). There's the immortal "higher" soul (Kon) that either becomes a ghost, like Yuyuko, or enters the cycle of reincarnation, and the transient "lower" soul (Paku) that animates the body and houses the earthly passions and which could, after death, become an unintelligent evil spirit, such as those seen in ''Subterranean Animism''. Youmu's phantom-half is apparently her higher soul, while her lower soul remains in her human body, giving it life.

* GhostLights: Well, she ''is'' one, so it makes sense she'd have two or three floating about.

* MidBoss: This is basically her schtick, from ''Perfect Cherry Blossom'' to ''Fairy Wars''. She even manages to be a midboss in ''Phantasmagoria of Flower View'', which ''doesn't have stages''.

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Despite damage to the Hakurei Barrier and a Lunarian invasion being the overarching plot, Yukari is conspicuously absent in both ''Urban Legend in Limbo'' and ''Legacy of Lunatic Kingdom''. Marisa calls her out on both cases, noting how unusual it is because Yukari is usually [[AwakeningTheSleepingGiant one of the first people to take action if the Gensokyo's existence is threatened]]. In the former, Yukari says it's because she knew Reimu could handle it [[note]]which as detailed in BerserkButton above is a bold-faced lie, it more than likely had to do with her connection to Sumireko and the Sealing Club[[/note]], and in the latter, Yukari appears in Marisa's good ending to inspect the fake Lunar Capital occult ball that brought the invasion about... and then decides to leave it in Marisa's care instead of destroying it. Marisa quickly decides she doesn't like the implications.

* GreenLanternRing: What does "Manipulating Boundaries" do? Whatever the hell you want it to do!
** Specifically, the "Manipulation of Boundaries" means she can change the boundaries of everything, even metaphysical things such as day and night or life and death. She mostly uses it to summon [[CoolGate her trademark gaps]] for teleportation, random stuff like traffic signs or a ''train'' but she can also do other incredible stuff that would clearly make her as [[TheOmnipotent omnipotent]]. It's possible that she used her power on herself to shift her own "border of weakness and strength" to become ''even more'' powerful.

* NotMeThisTime: Most of the fights against Yukari in ''Immaterial and Missing Power'' are the result of the player character assuming that she must be the cause behind the incident and attacking her.

** StoryBreakerPower: In a setting where almost ''every'' high enough boss has one of those, Yukari's StoryBreakerPower borders on omnipotence and pretty much no one can do anything about it, so it's probably a good thing she spends most of the time sleeping.

* WillingChanneler: ''Strange Creators of Outer World" reveals that "Ran Yakumo" is in fact ''not'' the name of the kitsune, but the name of the shikigami possessing her body. In fact, we've never seen Ran when she's not in shikigami mode.

* PurpleEyes: On top of all her other purple symbolism, she has purple eyes, symbolizing her mysterious nature.

* PurpleIsPowerful: See ColorfulThemeNaming under Chen.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: Pops up most noticably in her "Danmaku Barrier"; if the Player had a Border after her "Boundary of Life and Death" or uses a Bomb or dies, Yukari halts the progression of her attack, going so far as to stop the timer, completely wasting any invulnerability you may get.

* AncestralWeapon: The Hakurouken, a family hairloom wakizashi that can cut confusion and is only usable by the Konpaku family.
