This means it's critical that the player consistently refresh the buff on the affected unit whenever it expires.

* CombatMedic: It's his duty on the battlefield to keep his people combat-ready, though thanks to WarIsHell he's not exactly happy about said duty, plus his varied medical skills don't include mental health, which causes him distress.

* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: One of very few units that benefits from having your party suffer a debuff, specifically poison. He possesses a unique buff - "Poison Reversal" - which acts as a regen, attack boost and defense boost, but only if the recipients are poisoned. Fortunately he can share this buff, especially since he will poison nearby teammates (and himself) when on the game field, and the regen will actually tick for slightly more than the damage the poison inflicts.

* PoisonousPerson: He's ingested so many toxins that he can sweat it out with no harm ''to himself''. Others might not be so lucky, especially since one of his first abilities in-game is to poison himself and his ''allies''. Poison is his favorite research topic, but he veers into TooDumbToLive territory by taking mouthfuls of new substances to see if they're poisonous or toxic as his ''first'' step in research.

* SillyRabbitIdealismIsForKids: While he's a good person and wants to help people, Shennong has already crossed the DespairEventHorizon and believes that staunch idealism and striving for radical improvements to scenarios like the one he's in are foolish. Since the protagonist has a bad case of ChronicHeroSyndrome this naturally causes him to butt heads with them, but he eventually regains some of his own enthusiasm when he sees the protagonist's refusal to give up.

* SkewedPriorities: Lectures the protagonist about the power of Feng Shui during the ''Sunrise New Year'' event, instead of helping Marduk who was slowly being swallowed alive by Mushussu right next to him!

* WintryAuroralSky: One of the Artifacts he possesses is an aurora that covers a battlefield, its light change to inform him of situations, such as ongoing conflicts, or pockets of wounded. This aurora lacks the typical ice or winter association though.

His 4-Star artwork in particular shows this off quite prominently, depicting a low-angle shot of him performing a sumo squat from behind. Most of his alternate skins are similarly revealing, with only the one version of his Christmas outfit giving him a pair of shorts that properly cover his behind.

Guild Master of the aptly named Warmongers, a guild comprised of politicians and militarists, who was initially dispatched from the Game Masters, a guild operating out of the Tower of Babel. Born a human, although extensive surgery and modifications have rendered Bertro's body almost entirely mechanical. Bertro has been programmed to focus primarily on recording the actions of his fellow guild members, and as such, rarely gets involved in the conflicts they instigate. He firmly believes that those who can make war and humor coexist are truly human, and has an extreme fondness for both topics. Possessed of a strong desire to destroy the moon, Bertro inherently respects those with sufficient power to perform such a deed. He has a tendency to slip in Russian phrases when he gets worked up. Furthermore, Bertro tends to gain the sympathy of those who, like him, have had to endure being modified by the hands of others.

One of the three Geniuses, specifically based off of Robert A. Heinlein.

This Transient from the world of El Dorado is one of the leaders of the Warmongers, the guild controlling West Tokyo. His luchadores, who have dedicated themselves to his worship back in their home world, are never far from the vanguard in battles against other guilds. Although he always seems in high spirits, he is also calm and collected. He maintains a fervent belief in the act of sacrificing one's body to war for the sake of the world. When his home world was created, he first lost his right leg, followed soon by almost all of the rest of his body. Because of this, his apparent body now is nothing but a false image reflected in his Mirrors, and he can change it at will. He also enjoys altering his shape depending on the circumstances, transforming into various forms to keep his opponents guessing. As he is skilled at night warfare, he often takes the form of a nocturnal spider, although the evident enjoyment he finds in this tends to confuse those of his subordinates whom he has turned unwillingly into spiders, who don't see the attraction. He has a hard time with opponents that don't rely on sight, as his tricks will not work on them.

A Transient originating from the world of El Dorado. While a student by day, outside of school hours he works in professional wrestling, where he plays an up-and-coming Técnico specializing in the Mexican style of Lucha Libre. He is known in the ring for his energetic demeanor and crowd-pleasing performances: his matches often see him bloodied and almost beaten by unscrupulous foes who exploit his every weakness, only for him to suddenly seize victory in a dramatic turnaround, and this has gained him great popularity. To fly higher and farther than anybody else is his dream, and he wishes only to spend the rest of his days in the ring. He struggles most with getting along with others who live their lives on the edge, perhaps because of how much they mirror himself.

An expert in poisons and chemical substances and possessor of a cheerful and inquisitive disposition, this Transients excels in academics and has strong leadership skills. However, he has a bad habit of immediately putting things in his mouth to see if they are poisonous. Maybe because of this, he can often be seen panting and groaning with stomach pain, never learning from his mistakes. He has a passion for farming, and while his plot is small, he finds a great deal of use in it as an experimental farm to grow a variety of strange creations. He is affiliated with the Warmongers, the guild controlling Western Tokyo, where he works as a medic as well as a member of their frontline chemical and biological warfare unit. He cannot help but worry for those who unwittingly hurt themselves, and if their wounds are psychological and thus beyond his ministrations, he worries for them all the more. Conversely, he feels an aversion to those who gladly cause themselves pain; likes, in this case, repel.

A Transient hailing from the world of Xanadu, Avarga has found employment in Tokyo as an instructor and wrestling coach at Yoyogi Academy in Shibuya. His skills are widely respected in the city's martial arts circles, and he maintains strong ties to other schools specializing in close-quarters combat. While he was originally human, he now shares a body with the divine bird Khangarid, as evidenced by the feathers that constantly flutter about him. The monstrous strength he possesses is extraordinary even by Xanadu standards; if legends are to be believed, he once wrestled a great dragon to the ground with his bare hands. He is well-liked by his students for his affable, roguish demeanor, but a very different and far more intimidating side comes to the fore when angered... such as by a certain teacher at Daikanyama Academy, whom he views as his mortal rival.

A Transient from the Land of Wa. He is a calm strategist and a composed assassin who is seen working for the guild he is a part of, though this is only one facet to him. He's a person with many sides to him, giving eccentric speeches to his surroundings and being famed as a passionate and skillful ritual dancer. These are all components that make up the complex character that is Tanetomo, and those who misread him are prone to meet their doom. Tanetomo specializes in [[ISurrenderSuckers surrendering his leadership]], [[ManipulativeBastard binding the choices of his opponents, and manipulating them into his hands]]. On a tactical level he gets on well with those who treat him as a charming commodity. He holds a mix of pity and sympathy for people who get lost in destructive love.

Like the other Hakkenshi he is based on a character from Literature/NansouSatomiHakkenden - in his case the [[DudeLooksLikeALady feminine]] Inusaka Keno.

A Transient from the Land of Wa and a member of the Yoyogi Academy sumo wrestling club in Shibuya Ward. He values the discipline, order, and hierarchy of being part of an organization, and keeps his personal feelings locked up tight. While some in his club admire these qualities, others find him inflexible and insufferably strait‐laced. He tends to clash most violently with bold, rough individuals. On the other hand, he is weak to overt expressions of kindness and to persuasion, and in his inexperience he is quick to promise marriage to others. He has a habit of scratching at his old wounds, and in his struggles with his memories of the past, he has convinced himself that there is nowhere for him but the battlefield. He deeply respects his school's physician and their tireless efforts to look after his mental health.

Like the other Hakkenshi he is based on a character from Literature/NansouSatomiHakkenden - in his case TheBigGuy Inuta Kobungo.

World Representative of Tir na Nog, which plans to achieve eternity through Substitution. At one point in the past, his left eye was fumigated by magical smoke which led to it gaining the power to confer death to those he looks at. This power scatters about death on the battlefield without regards to friend or foe, but by borrowing the power of another this eye can become sealed. He has been through many wars and has gained fame as a general and the proudest king of the giants. However due to a defeat from a certain point in time, all of his dignity was stripped away and his pride was broken, and in the end he became someone who waited for his death penalty to be carried out within prison. He wishes to die on the battlefield as opposed to an execution ground, so he accepted some arrangements to be used by other World Representatives. After being imprisoned in the military academy prison in Nerima, he now works as a combat instructor training death row inmates as soldiers. Balor thinks about the comrades who killed and died on the same battlefields as he has. The lingering smoke there still smoulders in his eyes even now.

In this Tokyo, Daikoku is known as both the police superintendent/deputy commissioner as well as the principal for the police academy. He is seen by many as someone who combines both dignity and tolerance as a veteran, and he is highly respected. But on the other hand there is another side to him. That would be his being a black market auctioneer who sells precious goods and stray Transients from other worlds on a large scale. He regrets his past where he once ceded his Role to a certain person, so he is unusually obsessed with maintaining his power. He is always wearing white gloves as if to show everyone around his hands aren't dirty. Daikoku is fond of stepping on and rebuking those who have surrendered to him. He also has a businesslike sense of good will towards people who are aware that they have a certain charm in the marketplace.

World Representative of Nirai Kanai and lustful boy king who carries the memories of a heavenly emperor. He boasts that there is no one in the world who doesn't love him, and he is quick to hold hands with those he likes. He is a hardy soldier that specializes in the bow, and he fights with the Sacred Artifact of 24 battle-signaling arrows that are the incarnation of sunlight. These arrows will always reach wherever the sun shines and can be used as a part of Teda's body. In places known as pyazhu it is believed that he can enter the bodies of people he immediately falls in love with as light and have children. He has extremely terrible compatibility with people who would obstruct the grace of the sun.

Transient from the world of Hourai and avatar of the lotus blossom. First year student of the middle school section of Umamichi Academy in Taito Ward, Asakusa. Nezha is a weapon created with war carved into the core of their soul gem. They possess a Role where they must fight when possible, especially when they must also kill any dragons they see. Back in their home world, they have a past where they were drawn to someone calling themselves Qitian Dasheng (Seiten Taisei), all while karma led to the two having hostilities. Nezha is now emotionally attached to someone who has traces of that person but not their destiny and calls them senpai. Due to their past, Nezha doesn't get on well with anyone who reminds them of their nagging father.

A Transient from the world of Babilim, where it is believed that one will be reborn after death. The people of Marduk's homeland revere him as the Calf of the Sun and a hero among their people. He can gain new life by having the dragon Mushussu swallow him whole, regurgitating him with a brand-new body. This is, understandably, a frightening experience for him, yet he always resists the urge to scream because he must maintain his image as the stalwart hero. By contrast, Mushussu adores Marduk, and this process is one of the ways that the creature expresses its love for him. The stone tablet hanging from Marduk's neck is inscribed with a divine decree, though its Rule is currently not functioning as it should. Nonetheless, Marduk continues to follow the command inscribed upon it, always pursuing chaos wherever he finds it. He feels a level of kinship toward a fellow archer who, like him, is also known as a child of the sun. He also has something of a fondness for the individual with the Sacred Artifact that can rend heaven and earth.\\\

He is based on the patron god of Babylonia and who presided over storms, justice, compassion, healing, regeneration, magic, and fairness. He was responsible for slaying the primordial goddess Tiamat and then using her corpse to create the Heavens and the Earth as told in the Babylonian creation myth, [[Myth/MesopotamianMythology Enûma Eliš]].

Transient from the world of Wa no Kuni and its Representative. Back home, his childhood name was Onimusha or Oniwakamaru. He is one member of the subsystem that controls the world, The Originator/Minamoto(?). He is also a corporate man who excels at politically defining someone as an enemy and uniting everyone else against them. By changing his weaknesses into many and cutting off ties when the need arises, he can flip around the political game board. Yoritomo loves sumo wrestling contests, and his hobby is sponsoring his favorite sumo wrestlers. He fears falling off of a horse, and he does not feel that moving around much is a good thing. He is greatly feared by those who know his past, especially if they have been given a sword by him. As the mirror image of his younger brother's grown self and the Azuma warriors who followed his brother's example, he despises mirrors.

A Transient from Devaloka, a world that aims to perpetuate itself via a system of reincarnation. He is an earnest young monk who seeks to dedicate his life to the betterment of his physical and spiritual being. Together, his past, present, and future selves can open the seventh chakra to attain immeasurable physical prowess. It is said that the universe will come to an end when the third eye upon his forehead opens, so he strives to keep it shut. This requires him to bury the seething emotions within himself and display total abstinence. He knows that to unleash the power of his third eye is to unleash shakti, the cosmic source, and be transformed into his final form. He was once shot through the heart with an arrow of love and has been captivated by his obsession with the emotion ever since. He feels uneasy in the presence of a certain crocodilian individual because he is reminded of the beast that accompanied the one who shot the arrow.

* RealityEnsues: As a result of his biology, Shennong is unable to use the pool or maintain extended physical contact with anyone (lest he accidentally poisons them from his sweat).
** This is why he readily takes advantage of the Dragon Palace resort in the Virtual Summer Memory event, as his digital avatar can't poison anyone.

* AdaptationalVillainy: The gods that are his origin are on the side of good, if somewhat destructive at time. This Daikoku's morality is, to put it simple, ambiguous.

* UnexpectedCharacter: With Daikoku's mythological origin's association with Shiva, no one expected the original guy himself to appear in the game.

* BirdsOfAFeather: It's hinted that he shares some sort of sentimental view with Balor, [[spoiler:as both are considered among the less trustworthy (as in forming contact with the protagonist, the "trophy" of the game) of the Respresentives.]]

* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Tez loves war, especially war that have no obvious victors and is equally deleterious to everyone involved. He and his sibling were born to conflict and it is one of the first things he could remember. To Tezcatlipoca, the act of war and conflict is a way for everyone to connect to one another.

* TheSymbiote: He's in this kind of relationship with [[spoiler: Tezcatlipoca, who Hombre Tigre sacrificed his own heart to. Tezcatlipoca inhabits Hombre Tigre and works as his missing heart. In return, Hombre Tigre has dedicated himself to eternal battle in Tezcatlipoca's name, as he's become a tool for Tezacatlipoca, he, himself, is a nagual.]]

* AndThenWhat: As noted in his profile, he constantly worries about how he's going to live outside the battlefield, and arguably why's he's part of the group who seeks eternal battle: If they succeed, he doesn't have to.

* AlternateCharacterReading: His current name "Daikoku" (大黒) is an alternate reading of Okuni (大国), his original name. This is, among other things, is unavoidably LostInTranslation.

* CerebusRetcon: His friendly interactions with Ebisu in previous events are even more disturbing now that we know Daikoku has been possessed this whole time.

* DemonicPossession: Turns out, Daikoku has been possessed by Ōkuninushi-no-Kami, the mythical nation-building god of Japan. Tsukuyomi realized this when he was entrapped within Daikoku's shadow realm and revealed the truth once Ellie had managed to rescue him. It's unknown what has become of the original Daikoku or if there's anything left of him.

** He's not even the real Daikoku. It's actually another god who have hijacked his body in order to fulfill their agenda.

** According to Tsukuyomi, if anyone is able to call out his true name, then all of his darkness would lose its power. [[CrazyPrepared That is]], if you know he's actually Okuninushi, otherwise calling him by his host's name does nothing to negate his powers.

* HiddenDepths: The reason he chooses to not confront and fight against the protagonist despite it being the Warmongers' modus operandi is because he witnessed that Balor had lost all of his will to live after doing such and killing the protagonist as result, thus refrains from the action in order to not end up like him.

* LogicalWeakness: As a consequence, he can't affect anything that isn't in his light, whether if its blocked or it can't reach. Notably this causes him some grief, since its implied he's lost someone deep in the oceans, where light cannot reach.

* TheStraightAndArrowPath: Use bow and arrow as his weapon of choice.

* VagueAge: Appearance-wise, while he titled himself "Boy King", one of his alternate outfits is a modified Gakuran which is traditionally not worn before high school. Adding his musculature and its hard to believe that his age is anything below 13.

* BlueAndOrangeMorality: A low-key version; Nezha was built for war and as such views almost everything as some form of competition, and since their body can be rebuilt if it's broken to pieces, they don't quite grasp how terribly final death can be, having never come close to facing it themselves.

* RageBreakingPoint: Played for laughs, but Tanetomo kicks and destroyed Hombre's speakers after getting annoyed by the blaring music during the ''Nyah! Happy Illusions'' event.

* BirdsOfAFeather: It's hinted that he shares some sort of sentimental view with Tezcatlipoca, as both are considered among the less trustworthy (as in forming contact with the protagonist, the "trophy" of the game) of the Respresentives. As a result of that, by the time that Tezcatlipoca was defeated by the protagonist, Balor himself becomes the next target of both the Representatives and Curran's faction to be removed from the board.

* BruiserWithASoftCenter: Despite how tough he is, he really love his grandson.
* DeathSeeker: His only goal at Tokyo is to die at the hands of someone, to the point that he accepts all the imprisonments and being used as a tool by the other Representatives. The Fortune Festival heavily implies that the person is Lugh, his grandson and one of the souls inside the protagonist.

* DramaticIrony: Despite being a member of Warmongers, Fortune Festival reveals that he does not share their goal of world of eternal war at all, as he knows that all don't last for eternity and the old must die by the young's hands in order for the world to go forward, and only cooperates with them to follow his own belief.
* GrandpaWhatMassiveHotnessYouHave: Despite his aging years as "grandpa" (per his profile and legend), he is pretty fit and ripped.

The buff works in tandem with the debuff '''Price of Contract''' both of which are given by his first skill. While the unit is holding both status, they will receive a whooping 6x multiplier to their attack, 20 CP, and a minor defense boost for 2 turns. Of course, this being a Faustian bargain, there's a catch. While the buff last 2 turns, the debuff last 6 and without the buff, the debuff will activate, causing the unit to take [[DamageIncreasingDebuff extra damage]] and lock skill activation. This means it's critical that the player consistently refresh the buff on the affected unit whenever it expires.
