* ContraltoOfDanger: Has a very low, threatening voice, which is suitable for someone [[ActionGirl like]] [[AntiHero her.]]

Character reaction.

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: Even though Clem has taught him to be smart for his age, he's still a child born in a post-apocalyptic world, without any proper adults to turn to. This means he doesn't know how to interact with others normally and he's still immature. For example, when he and Clem get a bedroom at the boarding school, he wants to sleep under the bed to get an advantage on intruders, not catching on that it's safe to sleep in the bed. He also takes a toy from Tenn and says it's his now, reads Aasim's journal without his permission, and eats dinner impolitely -- all of which Clem can choose to scold him over.

They do not interact for this trope to count.

* {{Foil}}: To Rick Grimes, mainly before the ninth volume. Both are strong and dependable men who lead a group of survivors to safety while trying to protect a young child in their care. While Lee is a convicted criminal, Rick is an officer of the law. While Rick misses the first month of the apocalypse due to being in a coma, Lee was there during the early days. Rick is eventually reunited with his family while Lee's family died by the time he returns home. The comparison becomes quite apparent in ''No Time Left'' when Lee can lose his arm like Rick. [[spoiler:However, while Rick survived many years into the apocalypse, Lee died within a few months. Additionally, while Lee dies [[DoomedProtagonist slowly from a walker bite]] and is [[AGoodWayToDie accompanied by Clementine during his final minutes]], Rick dies from being [[UndignifiedDeath abruptly shot to death at first on accident, but then on purpose by an angry kid]] and is [[DyingAlone left to die alone]].]]

* MamasBabyPapasMaybe: It's unclear wether or not his real father was Alvin Sr. or William Carver, which was a serious concern for Rebecca. Both men had died by the time AJ was born, and the games never confirms the truth, though Season 4 does make AJ look a bit more like Alvin Sr. than Carver. Regardless of his true parentage, the only parent AJ has ever really known is Clementine.

* StrongFamilyResemblance: He looks a lot like Rebecca and his possible father, Alvin. He also looks practically nothing like Carver.

Ambiguous Disorder is not a trope anymore, but a redirect to a YMMV entry.

* AmbiguousDisorder: Several characters in Season 3 worriedly note that he hasn't learned to talk as a toddler, though they're cautiously optimistic that he's just a late bloomer. In "Done Running" he's shown to have a lack of empathy and has a habit of stealing/intruding. His poor social skills, poor etiquette, and habit of attacking those who are behind him may feed the disorder but it's more likely a result of the apocalypse. Clem notes that he has not had a chance to be a kid or interact with other kids around his age. However, his introverted personality and rash actions point to some type of antisocial disorder. [[spoiler: Take Us Back indicates that it was caused by all the trauma David, Eddie and the rest put him through at the Ranch.]]
