Salmacis is some sort of water virus-- as far as we know-- that 'eats' all of a body of water and replaces it with itself. Note: Humans are mostly water. Human 'members' of the HiveMind are referred to as "The Camper." Salmacis seems helpful towards the protagonists, but the full extend of its helpfulness is unknown.
