* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: Sort of. He agrees to fight the protagonists [[LetsFightLikeGentlemen "on your own terms"]], meaning the EvilKnockoff [[spoiler: mecha]] mentioned below. His reason for doing so, however, is not to relate to them, but rather to humiliate his opponents by defeating them in a MirrorMatch rather than simply [[RealityWarper Reality Warping]] them into nonexistence. He does this because if he assumed a form more powerful than them, they would simply Spiral Power their way up to his level, so limiting his own power in effect limits theirs as well. Additionally, he considers that defeating an opponent slowly and on their own terms generates more despair, which is what he's after.

* SpiritualAntithesis: To [[Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion Gendo Ikari]]. Both {{Tragic Villain}}s are older males who serve as the ArchnemesisDad to one of the series' protagonists, engineered the life of a blue-haired MysteriousWaif,[[note]]the same character as the child in Lordgenome's case,[[/note]] have [[DarthVaderClone loose similarities to Darth Vader]] of ''Franchise/StarWars'', [[spoiler:and secretly have WellIntentionedExtremist motives]]. However, while Gendo was more of TheChessmaster and never engaged in direct combat, Lordgenome puts up a spectacular fight once Simon reaches his stronghold. Both characters also reflect the protagonists of their respective series, reinforcing their opposite nature: Gendo, while masculine with an air of coolness, isn't notably manly [[spoiler:because he's essentially what his cowardly son Shinji would be if he grew up]], while Lordgenome is one of the manliest characters in the show [[spoiler:and was a lot like adult Simon in his youth]]. Furthermore, in the end, [[spoiler:Lordgenome pulls a HeroicSacrifice, while Gendo continues trying to go through with his plan only for Rei to betray him]].
