* DuelBoss: The first one for Kyuu, and a WakeUpCallBoss if you haven't been training him.
* LaughablyEvil
* VillainousHarlequin
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Once he's taken out by Pete, he's not been seen since. It's implied that he ran away from [=BlueLake=] Town.

And each additional info you learn about their guild just makes them more despicable.
** {{Jerkass}}: So far, all its members. Even the unnamed grunts. You could almost think that this is a requirement to join this guild...
** KnightTemplar: The guild has this mentality. It's especially shown during the [[spoiler:Save the Dryads sidequest]], where they were ready to [[spoiler:let a village be destroyed by the angered dryads in order to get rid of the Black Scar Guild]].
** LightIsNotGood: They often use Light spells, but they aren't sympathetic because of that.
** VillainsWithGoodPublicity: {{Downplayed}}. On the one hand, as an official guild, they have a lot of connections (especially with the press), and are appreciated by a lot of citizens. However, even in their hometown of [=EverGreen Town=], there are people who can't stand them.

* Samuel (OC)

*** JerkassHasAPoint: To be totally fair to him, during his first scene, he has the right to be angry that the kids sold him an untrained horse, given the fact that he could severly hurt himself while trying to ride it. What makes him despicable is his DisproportionateRetribution (hitting the two kids several times and threatening to '''enslave''' them).
*** JerkWithAHeartOfJerk: Even if Kyuu saves him in Chapter 8, he will still be aggressive towards him when they meet again in Chapter 9.
** LameComeback: He just calls people "stupid".
** NotSoHarmlessVillain: During the first two encounters with him, he's nothing but a joke. However, when he shows up [[FlunkyBoss with his friends]] [[spoiler:in front of the gates of the Lost Tower at the end of Chapter 8]], he's far stronger.
** SmugSnake: He's very confident and proud of his strength, but he's nowhere near as strong as he claims to be.
** UnknownRival: Or, more exactly, "Too Pathetic to be Taken Seriously" Rival. Ever since Kyuu ridiculed him in [=EverGreen=] Town, Samuel is obsessed by the idea of taking his revenge. Kyuu regards him as nothing more than a nuisance.
** WouldHurtAChild: [[EstablishingCharacterMoment He hit repeatedly two children because they sold him an untrained horse]].
* Markus
** [[FauxAffablyEvil Faux Affably Jerkass]]: He will display a polite front in order to keep up appearances, but he will resort to threats and petty insults at the first vexation.
** {{Jerkass}}: Although he hides it better than Samuel.
** SmugSnake: Kazuma Kiryu even uses these exact words to describe him.
** TallPoppySyndrome: In Chapter 9, this is his reasoning (or perhaps his not sincere justification) [[spoiler:for having his guild take credit for saving the region and framing the Nutsy Guild]]. He thinks if the independent guilds start getting too popular, people will lose faith in the Knights and official guilds and that would be bad.

!!The Black Scar Guild
A well-known and feared criminal guild. Kyuu and his friends will have to confront it during a few sidequests.

* Tropes that apply to the guild in general.
** EvenEvilHasStandards: It doesn't prevent them to try to kill, or at least severely hurt, the intruders, but the guild refuses to do assassination jobs. They also didn't [[spoiler:disturb the dryads, because they knew that it would endanger Riveras Village]].
** RedHerring: During the [[spoiler:Save the Dryads sidequest]].

* Zander (OC)
** BonusBoss: Of the Stolen Money Sidequest.
** DirtyCoward: Not above using hostages during a fight.
* The Griff (OC)
** EvenEvilHasStandards: During the Save the Dryads sidequest, he's horrified by the plan of [[spoiler:the Morning Glory Guild.]]

!!The Black Vipers Guild
Introduced in Version 3. Another criminal guild. Far weaker and more pathetic than the Black Scar.

* Tropes that apply to the guild in general.
** ButtMonkey: The poor schmucks can't get a break in the first chapter of Version 3. Every time they appear on screen and try to rob someone, they are beaten up by Kyuu and his friends. Kite even mentions that they are more "all talks and no actions" kind of guys.

!!The Invisible Hand Guild
A rogue guild specialized in thievery. They are said to rob the rich to give to the poor.

She fights him in Suiseki Valley because she thinks he won't survive in Kandur and doesn't want him to die stupidly. When she's beaten, she lets him pass without any more trouble.
** HeelFaceTurn[=/=]PromotedToPlayable: Unsurprisingly, given the fact that she wasn't evil to begin with, if Kyuu meets her again in Goka City in Chapter 10, she will join his brigade if you took the Suiseki Valley path.
** JustLikeRobinHood: She even helps an orphanage in [=EverGreen=] Town.
** NoodleIncident: She has some history with Axel. Apparently, he did something she considers so grave that saving her life wasn't enough to make amends. Oh, and she tried to seduce him and he refused because he already had a girlfriend. But that was another time and she doesn't hold a grudge for that.
** StatuesqueStunner
** {{Stripperific}}: Just '''look''' at her outfit...
** UnskilledButStrong: In term of brutal strength, she's impressive. But she lacks the technique. It's lampshaded by [[spoiler:Taskmaster]], who easily dodges her assault and knocks her out with one blow.
