* NotSoDifferent: Will take any opportunity to stab Jeremy in the back if it benefits him and despite often taking the moral high ground isn't any more moral than Jez is.

* SmallNameBigEgo: For all his braggadocio, [[NotSoDifferent Jeff is just another lowly office drone working the same dead-end job as his nemesis Mark]]. Jeff's constant hostility could be read as him compensating for his [[InferioritySuperiorityComplex insecurities]] by bullying a more obvious loser than himself.

* NotSoDifferent: A mild-mannered nerd with a repressed nasty streak? Sound familiar, Mark?

* DeathGlare: When Mark throws up on his snake he has this to say:"[[TranquilFury You are paying for this to be dry cleaned]].".

* ItsAllAboutMe: "Can't I have everything I want, all the time? I mean, isn't that what Democracy is all about?".

* SmugSnake: His attitude towards Mark. Notably, when Jeff is talking to less dweeby people like Jez or Johnson he drops his obnoxious alpha male routine and sucks up to them.

* BadBoss: He's perfectly willing to throw his employees under the bus if he thinks it'll elevate him even slightly.

* JerkJock: To a certain extent. He's certainly a top dog and can be thoughtlessly aggressive. Unlike Jeff however, Johnson is capable of kindness. See PetTheDog below.

* BitchInSheepsClothing: Gets self-righteous very easily and continously leads Mark on about moving in but [[spoiler:ultimately picks the New York job instead.]]

* NiceGirl: In her early appearances. By Series 9, like every other character, she's become something of a bitter, unsatisfied failure.

* NiceGirl: Mark and she shared some happy moments at school.

* TookALevelInJerkass: Treats Mark and Jeremy badly in Series 7, although they've done more than enough to warrant it.

* GrandRomanticGesture: Deconstructed as he believes in them [[RealityEnsues despite these acts being horrible ideas]]. He plans to propose to both Sophie and Dobby as a way to save clearly dying relationships, with no regard for how miserable it will make him in the future.

* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: She goes for Jeff at first, even lampshading it with, 'I always go for arseholes'.

** Mark is constantly shown to be interested [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarII WWII]], from reading books, to participating in reenactments and spends a lot of his time playing World War Two computer games.

* DarknessInducedAudienceApathy: He is so relentlessly nasty that it can get too much for some viewers, especially those who have abusive parents themselves. The only redeeming quality in his appearance is it shows why Mark ended up the way he did.

* HairDecorations: Wears cute barrettes at the temples most of the time.

* BiTheWay: The number of guys Super Hans has engaged in sex with over the series is relatively large. However the show never explicitly states he is gay or bi.

* BiTheWay: According to Jeremy, the pair would wank each other off out of boredom.

* BiTheWay: While his exact sexual preferences are left [[AmbiguouslyBi ambiguous]] for most of the series, there are several hints to suggest he's bisexual. While most of his relationships are with women, he tells a woman that he's slept with more men than her despite the fact that he "basically only sleeps with women". In one episode he competes with Super Hans to get sexual favors from a young band member they take on, and at one point shows some admiration to a muscular monk dating Big Suze. It becomes less ambiguous in season 9 when he enters into a relationship with a man that lasts for most of the season.

* PointyHairedBoss: Debateable. He’s competent and doesn’t suffer fools, but he’s also highly aggressive, willing to throw innocent employees to the wolves to save himself, and Mark not inaccurately describes him as part of a group of, ‘literally the worst men in the world’.

* Jerkass: Incredibly rude and condescending to Mark at times.

* HelloNurse: Just about everyone's reaction to her, with good reason.
