* WorthyOpponent: They decide to face Mario in a fair fight with their blades sheathed after the plumber proves himself by dodging Scissors' their initial attack and defeats the Paper Mistake Buzzy Beetle.

* BreakTheHaughty: They act like a noble, refined swords...thing in the beginning of the match, even sheathing their blade to "make it fair", but this only counts insofar as they're convinced that the moment they try, Mario is done for. As soon as it becomes clear Mario can just jump their lethal attack, they spiral into an immature VillainousBreakdown and accuses Mario of ''[[{{Hypocrite}} cheating]]''.

* AlternateCompanyEquivalent: He shares a lot in common with [[VideoGame/Splatoon2 Commander Tartar]]; he was created by a higher being (the Origami Craftsman vs the Professor) with the purpose of being a better leader for the future, but misinterpreted the message and gained an intense hatred of a major species (Toads vs Inklings), and sparking a war of genocide against them. They both even reuse an enemy species molded into their own images against them (the Folded Soldiers vs Sanitised Octolings).

* TheAntiNihilist: Despite knowing that his lifespan is short, he still wishes to do something great and fulfills his wish by sacrificing himself to save Olivia.

** To both: He's a regular mass-produced Bob-Omb (minus the fuse) compared to the different character designs for the two. Both of them were capable of using explosive attacks on enemies, whereas Bobby can only tackle them. Also both of them live to the end of their stories, Bobby doesn't.

* DiedHappilyEverAfter: Dies with dignity after saying his thanks to Mario for all the fun times he had and knowing that his sacrifice will save Olivia.
