* CloudCuckooLander: It starts with directly asking a suspect if they committed the crime, and believing that a dog outfit will let her approach a lost dog without scaring it off. It's around the point when she tests her successors in a PlayboyBunny outfit with an absurdly-expensive video game that they wonder what an ordeal Zenkichi must have suffered being around her for 13 years.

* TheHeroine: The story focuses on her following her declared purpose of helping those around her with any trouble they may have.

* JustFriends: How she sees her relationship with Zenkichi since [[spoiler:she proposed to him when they first met, but he rejected her (they were two-year-olds, so he didn't take it seriously),]] and she assumes the status never changed. After the Student Presidential Election she does give him a ''much'' more pointed hint about her feelings.

* WillTheyOrWontThey: With Zenkichi. They go through ''years'' (both in RealLife and in-universe) of shipping, two rejections on Zenkichi's part, love confessions and a death or two. In the final chapter of the series (not counting the last chapter about Kumagawa), [[spoiler:she and Zenkichi have one final duel, now that both of them have no powers. Of course, it loses some impact when one of Medaka's duties as the leader turns out to be Hakoniwa's chairman, so she's not really going anywhere.]]

* SelfImposedChallenge: [[spoiler:During his fight with Medaka to see who will become the Student Council President and prove their main character credentials, he asks for an ability that would repulse any writer of traditional heroes, but we don't learn what it was for a long time. In the end, it turns out to be the negation of any sort of impossibly unlikely coincidence and fortune that blesses main characters everywhere. No plot armor, no long lost siblings, no MeetCute, no mercy from enemies ''nothing.'']]
