* AmbiguousDisorder: At times, Ruo relives dark memories of his mother's descent into barbarism and bloodlust. The first time ever was in Volume 1 when he remembers her physically abusing him and maiming his body. This can possibly be a symptom of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

* ArcherArchetype: Deconstructed. Robin is overall calm and has cocky moments, but is very friendly and loyal to his friends.

* TheArcher: Robin uses a bladed bow and Dust arrows. He’s no slouch in close combat, but his specialty is ranged fighting.

* HeroesWantRedheads: Mathdon is immediately smitten by Pyrrha Nikos. The two end up spending time together, starting a relationship and falling in love.

* HeroesWantRedheads: Nasser has feelings for Octavia Ember of Team NDGO, who’s also a childhood friend of his. He won’t openly admit it, though.

* HurtingHero: Abused by Donovan, bullied for his weight and Asperger syndrome, wrongfully expelled from Aurum Academy...Math definitely has a lot of hurt in his heart. Luckily, Forest and Glaucus helped him find a way to pick himself up and keep going forward.

* HurtingHero: Ruo has put up with so much in his life: watching his father die, being abused by his mother, [[spoiler: having to commit matricide]]. He’s harbored a lot of pain for years.

* HurtingHero: [[spoiler: The deaths of her teammates weighs heavily on Safirlas for a long time. She’s shown to miss them greatly and isn’t completely out of her depression yet.]]

* HurtingHero: Married to an abusive HateSink jerk, felt powerless to stop Aurum Academy from unjustly expelling her son, [[spoiler: nearly watched both of her children die during the Fall of Beacon]]...Corcra has dealt with a whole lot in life, but she keeps picking herself up for her children's sake.

* BladeOnAStick: Safirlas's choice of weapon is Himmelkanten, a spear with a holder for throwing knives. She is experienced in Bojutsu, which employs the use of a staff-based weapon.

* BladeOnAStick: Corcra uses a guandao in combat, a polearm weapon similar to Safirlas's spear.

* BladeOnAStick: Jason uses a spear in combat.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Ruo's hair is white with black streaks, greatly resembling a White Tiger's fur.

* {{Invisibility}}: Ruo’s Semblance allows him to turn invisible at the cost of draining Aura.

* MulticoloredHair: Ruo-Jian has white hair with black streaks, giving his hair a striped appearance similar to a White Tiger.

* TheTrickster: Robin’s strategies in fighting often revolve around tricking and outsmarting his opponents, usually with his Dust arrows.

* {{Adorkable}}: Math has his moments of excitability and goofiness, which at times makes him very endearing.

** His temper. Nasser has a short fuse, which can often lead him to act purely on anger and say very harsh and spiteful things.

* GreenEyes: Robin has red hair and green eyes [[spoiler: but he unfortunately loses his eyes during the Fall of Beacon when Emerald cuts them out]].

* SignificantGreenEyedRedhead: Robin has red hair and green eyes and is one of the main characters of MRRN.

* GreenEyes: Nasser has green eyes, the same color as his Aura. It could also be reflective of him wanting to earn money through being a Huntsman to get his family out of poverty.

** Struggling to keep his emotions in check. While a moral and intelligent warrior, Math sometimes has trouble reining in his emotions, which can lead him to make impulsive decisions at times.
** His BlackAndWhiteMorality. Mathdon has strong moral principles that he will not compromise. This can lead him to being stubborn towards others at times.

* SteelHidingSilk: Pyrrha is the best fighter among the first-years in Beacon Academy. While a formidable warrior, she is also very kind, caring, loving and motherly to some of her friends.

* BlackAndWhiteMorality: Downplayed. Mathdon has very strong moral beliefs that he will almost never compromise unless he needs to save someone's life.

* FatalFlaw: Three.
** His insecurities. Due to his DarkAndTroubledPast of abuse and pain, Math is hesitant to open up to others about his Asperger's and his past. This makes him feel uncomfortable in his own skin at the start of the series, but later grows to overcome his insecurities surrounding his disability.

** His strong sense of morality. Mathdon has moral principles that he will almost never compromise unless it's to save someone else's life. This can lead him to being rigid and stubborn at times.
