* AmbiguousDisorder: its clear from the times we see her point of view that she's dealing with a litany of issues, such as memory and focus problems, being easily overstimulated, and a propensity for self harm when stressed, some of which began to show before she was abused making it more difficult for the reader to decipher how much of it is a result of her trauma and how much of it is from an underlining disorder.

He even grows to respect Elise for walking away from a fight with him, to the point where he becomes her fishing teacher, and seems to get along all right with his keeper.]]

* AdultFear: [[spoiler: Elise is worried that she will forget about her sister and what she looked like. Wu eventually gives her a photograph of Small One when she was alive to prevent this.]]

* AdultFear: [[spoiler: Owen learns in a conversation with Elise that she has been talking to Daemon Bridges, a man known to be manipulative and dangerous, on a regular basis and trusts him more than her hired therapist. He is shocked by this and tells her to stay away from him.]]

* AdultFear: [[spoiler: Hart's daughter dies because of the choice he made to trust someone whose actions directly caused her death.]]

* NotSoDifferent: Because Elise suffered from mental damage in confinement, she suffers from some instabilities. As a result, she sees some of herself in Bridges, who has mental issues of his own (although [[AxCrazy much]] [[LackOfEmpathy darker]] than Elise's). Hart also points out that, repentant as she may be, she got off easily for some truly horrific behavior, much like Bridges does.

* NotSoDifferent: Like Bridges' plans for Elise, Carnifex was deliberately reared to be an AxCrazy weapon.

* NotSoDifferent: It's suggested that Muldoon used to be more like Owen before [[TheSociopath the Big One]] killed Abilene, the first raptor leader, and forcibly took control of the remains of her old pack. After that, he lost hope that raptors could be safely displayed. Owen's concern for Elise is also mirrored with Bridges' concern for Sobek.

* NotSoDifferent: Claire dislikes ''Spinosaurus'' due to Madre del Diablo's rampage...not completely unlike how Bridges hates ''T. rexes'' because one almost killed his mother, in both cases judging a whole dinosaur species due to one individual's actions. Unlike Bridges, Claire is able to overcome this prejudice enough to let Sobek move in.

* NotSoDifferent: Even though he works for the villains, Romano is shown to care for the animals under his watch as much as his counterparts on Isla Nublar, including the ''T. rexes'', who Bridges considers little more than breeding stock.
