Tzeetch took advantage of it in the past and Magnus only seems to have somewhat learned from the experience as he's once again going behind his father's back to do what he thinks needs doing. Also Magnus' arrogance, unlike his father's, is often coupled with a bad habit of acting without thinking when he really wants to do something.

* HeroicSelfDeprecation: During his comedy duel with Cegorach, he throws all kinds of insults to himself, which shows that even he hates himself over the course of the series, which involved making a deal with Tzeech and destroying his father's Webway project. But as Cegorach explains, this trope can ''literally'' kill himself, as he was slowly dying from it. Cegorach decided to [[EveryoneHasStandards make it a draw for the sake of his health]].

* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Attempted this when telling The Emperor things he needed to know, and tried t keep other information, such as sterilization camps, sacrifices, and the less savory actions of the Inquisition and Ecclesiarchy. Unfortunately, it doesn't fool the Emperor, and even outright tells him everything he wants to know. And when he relents, the Emperor, even with a text to speech device, is anything ''[[TranquilFury but]]'' happy over what the Imperium was doing, which can result in ''multiple'' warp storms.

*** The Lord Commander Militant, already being given depth as one of the more reasonable High Lords, is shown to have an exceptionally crude and occasionally disturbing sense of humor, with his thorough enjoyment of his role as a dung obsessed, face skinning lunatic. Having a crude sense of humor is actually quite [[TruthInTelevision common in the military]] even amongst officers (they they tend to keep it amongst other officers).

* BadassBaritone:
** When he challenges Tzeentch for Magnus' soul, he suddenly gets a much deeper voice similar to the other Custodes, though this is also play on how the main character's voice in the [[Anime/YuGiOh Yu-Gi-Oh anime]] deepens when he allows the Pharaoh's spirit to possess him during a game.
** He also uses a deeper voice when dealing with Skitarii who refuse to listen to him, and the Fabricator-General of Mars.

* ADateWithRosiePalms: Dates of this nature are indulged but "only on Thursdays". Kitten is distinguished from them by not partaking.

In "Episode 15- Tau" in particular, when the Emperor threatens to have Kitten charged as being the new target in the next Blood Games (where the sexual activity in question is all but outright stated to occur) if he doesn't inform him about the Tau, and Kitten fearfully questions aloud that the Emperor was supposed to be ''persuasive'' in convincing people to do his bidding, the Emperor insists that he ''is'' being persuasive... because he knows that Kitten secretly enjoys it.

** His hatred of the Tau is a particularly notable example of this, as the very ''mention'' of them prompts [[OnlySaneMan him]] to swiftly take up the same violent, xenophobic zeal that many of the Imperium's denizens are infamous for. Furthermore, it's heavily implied that the catalyst for this hatred was because he was formerly in a relationship with Shadowsun (which he continuously insists is "not canon" whenever it's brought up) which ended with her breaking up with him, greatly suggesting that he's NotGoodWithRejection in the ''extreme''.
