* StaticCharacter: The only current guardian who does not undergo some significant CharacterDevelopment. It's [[JustifiedTrope justified]] in that he already went through his long before the game even started.

* NotSoAboveItAll: After her TeetchClenchedTeamwork with Yuna begins, she admits that she's always wanted to ride on their airship.

* StarCrossedLovers: With Tidus. [[EarnYourHappyEnding Play your cards right]], and you can [[OfficialCouple reunite them -- ''for good'' -- in the sequel.]]

* Freudian Trio: The id to Braska's ego and Auron's superego.

* VillainDecay: After defeating him for the second time, he drops out of significance in the plot and eventually becomes a complete joke. Not even the main characters take him seriously anymore, with Tidus' reaction to their final confrontation being one of simple annoyance.

* LadyOfWar: In ''X''.

* NoPronunciationGuide: It's "Tee-dus", not "Tie-dus". Since [[HelloInsertNameHere no one addresses Tidus by name during either game]], confusion is inevitable. That being said, the PAL release of the game came with a ''Beyond Final Fantasy'' DVD, which featured Creator/JamesArnoldTaylor (the English VA for Tidus) pronouncing the names as "Tee-dus", & this pronunciation is also used in both ''[[DissidiaFinalFantasy Dissidia]]'' games. The confusion mostly comes from ''KingdomHearts2'' using "Tie-dus".

** PromotionToParent: A cutscene during which Tidus talks about his mother's heartbreak when Jecht disappears indicates that despite Auron's promise to Jecht, he fears this happening because 'he wouldn't know what to do' if Tidus' mother were to die. Given Tidus' age in the flashback and the tone of Auron's voice, it's implied that around this time Auron was still recovering from Braska's pilgrimage which makes this fear of this pretty justified.

* JailBait: With emphasis on "bait", given her figure and [[{{stripperific}} the way she dresses]] in ''X-2'', to say she's only 17 yeas old. Though it's {{subverted}}, since according to Rikku, the people of Spira can marry as young as age 15[[note]][[MustNotDieAVirgin due to the constant threat of SIN]][[/note]].

* TheSmartGuy: She can work machina and has a 'mix' overdrive to create new abilites.

* HelloInsertNameHere: Gave some interesting problems for the ''X-2'' dubbing, which led to Tidus being the ''last'' character in a voice acted ''Franchise/FinalFantasy'' game (as of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII2'') whose name could be entered by the player. ''VideoGame/KingdomHearts'' was the first game in which he's called by his name... '''and it's not even pronounced correctly'''. (See NoPronunciationGuide below.)

* BlitheSpirit: Definitely to Yuna and the other party members, and arguably to [[spoiler: all of Spira, given that his influence ends up destroying the [[CorruptChurch church of Yevon]]]]. Played for drama.

** MaybeEverAfter: Rikku definitely seems to show some concern for him when Djose Temple is attacked. And at the end they are seen leaving the Farplane holding hands.

* ActionGirl: Makes even the White Mage class seem badass. Hell, her unique dress sphere is a giant Mech '''made entirely out of swords'''.

* AlliterativeName

* CharacterDevelopment: To the point where his voice during early cutscenes, and his voice with him [[NarratorAllAlong as the narrator of his own story]], [[VocalEvolution were made to sound as different as possible in terms of maturity]].
** This is a nice thought, but sadly it's actually a result of his voice actor being given bad direction. James Arnold Taylor believed Tidus was narrating events from well into the future, and gave him a considerably older voice for those parts. It doesn't match up with the the youthful voice that Tidus uses even after the game catches up with his narration.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: In early drafts, Tidus had the attitude of a young, angry Japanese gang member who worked as a plumber[[note]]Shout out to Mario, maybe?[[/note]], constructing piping and fending off underwater fiends.

* TalkingTheMonsterToDeath: Downplayed. During the battle with Braska's Final Aeon (aka Jecht), a Talk option appears in the menu, allowing Tidus to reach out to his father and temporarily soothe his soul, reducing his [[LimitBreak Overdrive meter, not his HP. [[ItOnlyWorksOnce It only works twice]], so you'd best save it for the second phase of the battle.]]

* StepfordSmiler: Tidus unwittingly causes her to crack by talking at length about how beautiful his Zanarkand is, and how the whole party should go visit. (sniff...)

* TonightSomeoneKisses: With Tidus at Macalania Woods, after the Bevelle ordeal. [[AwesomeMusic/FinalFantasy "Suteki da ne" only adds to the [[CrowningMomentOfHeartwarming "daww"]] feeling as Tidus and Yuna begin their moonlit tryst]].

** Yuna was chosen to represent ''FF X-2'', along with Rikku, in [[Creator/MontyOum Monty Oum's]] ''WebAnimation/DeadFantasy'', where they're cast as [[VideoGame/DeadOrAlive Kasumi and Ayane's]] designated rivals (respectively).

** She and the other Gullwings had a cameo appearance in ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsII'', as a trio of fairies who were helping Maleficent. But they change sides after Donald promises to give them treasure, for their help, which turns out to have been a lie. They don't hold it against him, since Leon explained the situation to them. After letting Donald off the hook, they give Sora the Gullwing Keyblade and vanish.
