* BuffySpeak: How does he describe the [[FieldOfBlades Gate of Babylon]] to his Master? "Showing off with a lot of shiny-goldy things." He also calls stealth bombers "big black B2 thingies."

* FriendlyEnemy - He practically suggests that he and Saber have a drinking game and invited Gligamesh to join them when he happened to run across the guy. Until Kirei's Assassins show up, the three of them are sitting around a table, talking about their dreams, kingship and even comparing the quality of wine.

* Homage - To the works of HPLovecraft. Not so much Caster as the creatures he summons - as to be expected from Urobuchi Gen, who previously wrote CthulhuMythos - inspired works such as ''{{Demonbane}}'' and ''SayaNoUta''

* NotSoStoic - As his brief breakdown in front of his wife in book two reveals.

* ShadowArchetype - To Saber of all people. While much is made about how Kiritsugu and his servant are at odds. On a fundamental level they share many of the same ideals and much of the trauma they endure comes from the fact that they have been betrayed by their devotion to those ideals.

[[AlternateCharacterInterpretation However]], he may not even have known (or cared - he's a stereotypical {{Nasuverse}} magus, after all) about the methods said daughter had to undergo in order to develop her powers - even going as far as to take pride over the possibility of sisters facing off against each other in a deathmatch. She goes through it upon seeng Berserker revealed before her eyes as Lancelot, and nearly gets killed as a result.

* FatalFlaw - His idealistic beliefs of "saving everyone", [[FateStayNight which his adoptive son tooks up at his death]].

** In fact, one of the two things Nasu specifically wished to be shown in ''FateZero'' (besides Kiritsugu's backstory) is ''Saber getting bullied by Archer and Rider''.

* EldtritchAbomination - Summoner of these.

He is also one of the possible {{Big Bad}}s of [[FateStayNight Fate/stay night]].

* ShootTheHostage - Part of a plan instigated by Kiritsugu. Having crippled El-Melloi, Kiritsugu orders Maiya to kidnap El-Melloi's wife. Kiritsugu gives El-Melloi an offer; quit the War, and Kiritsugu will be magically binded from harming the pair of them. El-Melloi agrees and hurries to leave the city. Maiya guns the pair down.

* MercyKill - To El-Melloi, after Maiya perforates him with a machine gun and Kiritsugu sadistically refuses to finish him off.
** To be fair, that would be breaking his contract and removing his ability as a magus.
*** But he didn't have to be such a bastard about it.

* WorseThanItSounds - His chick magnet powers really ''are'' a curse. He originally died because his lord's wife fell in love with him, ending up in him being betrayed. Then his Master's fiancee ''also'' falls in love with him, [[spoiler:meaning he gets killed ''again.'']]

* WorthyOpponent - To [[ItsAllAboutMe Gilgamesh]]. Getting Gil to call him this and becoming the only Servant in both the 4th and the 5th wars that Gil actually respected was arguably Alex's greatest CrowningMomentOfAwesome in the series.
