Up To Eleven is a defunct trope

** Another example happened when Fundy trapped Techno in a dunk tank at the festival. Unfortunately for Fundy, Techno had a Respiration III helmet, which negated most damage taken from drowning and increased breathing time underwater. Techno then proceeded to promote his channel while in the process of drowning, and even briefly stepped away from his computer in real life to drink a glass of water. Needless to say, Fundy was not happy.

* PoorCommunicationKills: Pretty much one of the main reasons why Techno's relationships in Season 1 and 2, especially with Tommy, tend to break apart horribly is a failure to resolve conflict of interests. In Techno's case, likely due to social awkwardness and preference for action, he tends to just skirt around the issue and hope that people will eventually see where he's coming from/or believe that people already share his beliefs. This ends up being a habit that causes him to lose allies quickly, since what they wanted was too different, first with L'Manburg as a whole since they wanted to rebuild a stable political structure while Techno wanted an anarchist society, then with Tommy over whether or not to destroy L'Manburg (Tommy wanted to keep his old nation safe and realized he crossed his own moral beliefs while siding with Techno, which led to his betrayal, while Techno wanted that city-state gone and wiped off the server because it was "government" and later because they tried to kill him). Plus, the Butcher Army going after him is partially caused by the fact he claimed he would blow up the country again if they tried to rebuild the country and reform a government, but never told them he'd retired in the meantime and was trying to give up on his violent ways, which led to New L'Manburg seeing him as a perpetually looming threat and putting him on the Hit List.

* VillainousAromanticAsexual: Trope and ultimately Trope. Techno is morally grey (though his exact shade of grey is still heavily debated), and overall seems to have little to no interest in romance. Early during his time on the SMP, Tommy asked who his favourite woman was, to which Techno replied it was his mother; when Quackity asked him out in a moment of panicTechno was hunting him down, and Quackity's (non-canonical) stream chat was urging him to ask Techno out, Techno turned him down, asking if he had a death wish for trying to do such a thing. Despite this, Techno is able to form attachments and make friends, most notably seen with the members of the Syndicate.
** This is somewhat Trope by Techno the content creator explicitly stating he doesn't want his character to be shipped, so a sizeable part of the fandom agrees that Techno the character is likely somewhere on the aromantic and/or asexual spectrum(s).

Not only is this blatantly untrue (Tommy is TheNicknamer, he's called Techno "The Blade" for months while treating him as a friend, and Techno never complained about being referred to as "The Blade" before that), and another bit of blatant hypocrisy in that he admitted two days before to only keeping Tommy around to use him, it's also a bit rich coming from the guy who stopped treating Tubbo as anything except "government" as soon as he was involuntarily inaugurated on November 16th. This is further hammered in by Tommy's reply to the aforementioned claim, that the L'Manburgians are people too.

* PoorCommunicationKills: Pretty much the main reason why Techno's relationships in Season 1 and 2, especially with Tommy, tend to break apart horribly is a failure to resolve conflict of interests. In Techno's case, likely due to social awkwardness and preference for action, he tends to just skirt around the issue and hope that people will eventually see where he's coming from/or believe that people already share his beliefs. A habit that either got him used (like with Wilbur) or down a friend, since what they wanted was too different (with Tommy).

Compromise. Removed MCM and will put it in a different page. BUT here's the thing about cTechno on the Green Festival situation/fallout: there's this one clip where he edited out "Destroy L'Manburg" from his to-do list before giving it to cTommy. If it were truly a problem of miscommunication, why would he edit it from the list? It wouldn't make sense if it were just miscommunication, I agree there's some involved but cTechno was clearly hiding his own motives from cTommy at the time. if needed, I can cite/link the clips in my next edit as evidence

*** Techno has also repeatedly teamed up with Dream, who can crown and dethrone kings on a whim, has waged war against and destroyed every faction that tries to challenge his power, isolated and abused Tommy for not listening to him, and had a vault full of everyone's most valued possessions to use as blackmail. Granted, he wasn't aware of Exile or the Disc Finale, but given Dream's nature, Techno should be more wary of working with him, even if Dream isn't working in a government.
** Techno is against government and has always opposed those who continue them, yet has worked with Eret AKA the monarch of the Greater SMP. Albeit, justified, in that case since it was to get Michael back and take down the one who kidnapped the kid.

Hypocrite sect - Not really hypocrisy if the guy was under duress during the situation and the S4 Revengers part doesn't quite work since Techno was wasn't working 'for' Eret but rather a temp all unrelated to politics. The 'I'm a person' section was grossly untrue so that needed the boot, (example Techno was upfront about his desire to blow up LB. A proper way to go about is talking about Techno and Tommy being unwilling to actually talk about their motives to reach a shared goal.. As for M. I'd like to say, no matter what cQuackity claimed that time, the Hit List was mainly a list of threats and enemies to (New) L'Manburg, and the ultimate reason they went after cTechno was not to show their power, but more to appear 'powerful' enough to be left alone, like a cat puffing up its fur to look bigger and more menacing.

As Techno manages to go into retirement again, satisfied that there was (for now) no more government on the server, the splintered remains of L'Manburg had all lost their homes and mostly became lost and disillusioned as a result.
** Pretty much whenever Techno is in conflict with Quackity, expect Techno to usually be the victor. During his escape from his execution, Techno canonically killed Quackity, giving him even more trauma (though in Techno's defense, said fight was in self-defense after Quackity tried to hunt him down again). Months later, Quackity gained his veneagence vengeance by locking Techno in Pandora's Vault with Sam's help. Quackity returned to visit Techno (and Dream) in the prison and almost managed to kill Techno the very same way Techno himself did it. Unfortunately, Unfortunately for Quackity, Phil managed to teleport Techno out of prison moments before Quackity could kill him. * Hypocrite: Arguably his biggest flaw.
** Techno claims to be an anarchist because he wants to prevent tyranny, and believes that all forms of government are inherently tyrannical. He's attempted to combat this tyranny by forming the Syndicate, a secret organization that investigates communities by conducting searches and interrogating their inhabitants, with the promise that if they find evidence of a government, they will raze the entire place to the ground.
It's true that Techno isn't aware of most of what Dream has done, but the fact that he can learn pretty much all of that just by asking someone why Dream is in jail makes it sound less like him being genuinely out of the loop, and more like willful ignorance.
*** Before that, Techno followed Schlatt's order to execute Tubbo, despite Schlatt being a tyrannical dictator who nobody wanted in power. Tommy calls him out on this during the Doomsday War, to which Techno tries to deflect by saying it happened months ago... not that those months could ever erase Tubbo's trauma from the incident.
*** Speaking of which, while apologizing to Tubbo about the Manberg Festival, Techno claims that it was "pathetic of [him] to give in to the government"... while having no problems teaming up with Eret, the resident monarch of the Greater SMP.
** When Tommy left him during the Green Festival, and later during Doomsday, Techno was absolutely furious, claiming that Tommy was using him from the start, and had been lying to him about what he was actually planning. This is extremely rich considering that, a day before the Green Festival, Techno outright admitted that he was only keeping Tommy around to further his own ends, and had been lying to Tommy for weeks about his true intentions of destroying L'Manburg (which Tommy had said from the start that he didn't want to do).
*** When Tommy tries to claim that L'Manburg isn't about government, but people, Techno replies "I'M a person!", and goes on to accuse Tommy of only every seeing him as "The Blade" and Dehumanization treating him like a weapon. Not only is this blatantly untrue (Tommy is TheNicknamer, he's called Techno "The Blade" for months while treating him as a friend, and Techno never complained about being referred to as "The Blade"), and another bit of blatant hypocrisy in that he admitted two days before to only keeping Tommy around to use him, it's also a bit rich coming from the guy who stopped treating Tubbo as anything except "government" as soon as he was involuntarily inaugurated on November 16th. This is further hammered in by Tommy's reply to the aforementioned claim, that the L'Manburgians are people too.

* FatalFlaw: Holds a few.
** Arguably his biggest flaw is his awful people skills. He may be a good fighter, but when it comes to resisting peer pressure or getting across his ideology, he pretty much falls flat. While Techno has good intentions, pretty much every major conflict he ended finding himself in was as a result of either being unable to ever properly communicate his intentions to others to form a compromise or the anxiety of the situation has him buckle and go against his core beliefs.

** He's also quite stubborn and very uncompromising with what he believes in, namely that governments are something that always results in tyranny and should be eradicated. Even if others think otherwise, he will go through with even destructive acts for those beliefs sake, which further alienates him from people that would have been his friends. Something L'manberg learned the hard way (though in that case one can argue it had more to do with the next vice of Techno's...).

** Namely, Techno is a lot more emotional than one would first guess and holds poor grasp on some of his feelings. Mainly, his anger being the main issue, with his lack of proper expression of it pretty much being the driving force at to why the Butcher Army came for his head following L'manberg's second destruction.
