Considering Ruki had almost been killed by Darigus the prior chapter, and the fact Ruki had become increasingly desperate to have a chance to finally be back home, she more or less completely snapped with the wreck she's putting herself through as of Chapter 9.]]

* MoreThanMindControl: [[spoiler:Why she's behaving so violent; a man is in control of Ruki's digivice due to having stolen it, and Renamon isn't exactly being [[MindRape Mind Raped]] so much as having her aggression amplified UpToEleven, making herself the bigger threat towards Ruki and her family than the man with the stolen digivice ever could be on his own. The man promptly gives Renamon a SadisticChoice; either he increases her aggression to maximum to make her kill Ruki on a dime, or Renamon listens to his orders by nightfall and he'll simply ensure her aggression won't harm Ruki or her family.]]

* WhatTheHellIsThatAccent: In the author's note as well as all across Chapter 10 itself, nobody can identify the absurd accent he has, and even [[WordOfGod the author admits]] nobody, [[UpToEleven not even himself]], is supposed to make sense of [=MetalEtemon=]'s accent.

* MortonsFork: [[spoiler:Absorb biological materials earlier than normal but have no agents to defend you, or have the agents to defend you but no means of easily acquiring mass? It chose the latter but it would've have made a difference; Cobaldramon shows up in minutes flat and eats its core unit, and as we see latter when the various agents do finally show up, even if the likes of [=ADR-09=] was used, Cobaldramon's very ''[[UpToEleven teeth]]'' are made of Chrome Digizoid, so it would've pierced right through the barrier like tissue paper.]]

* ShownTheirWork: The reason he even has the Ulforce in him is because of a butchered left arm he had replaced with a seemingly random Digimon's left arm in which the remaining wounds rapidly healed and the VNA within the arm quickly entered the remainder of his entire body as well. Ulforce doubles as a healing agent in addition to a power source, but since the version of [=UlforceVeedramon's=] arm used was the X-Antibody variety, it ended up being an UpToEleven version of it which entered his whole system and gave him SuperEmpowering due to the Ulforce attempting to heal wounds in the remainder of his body it doesn't even realize aren't even there.

* PantyShot: An embarrassing one occurs between her and Takato after fumbling with ingredients while cooking, sending both her and Takato onto the floor, with Jeri landing with her rear up and Takato getting a good view of under her skirt. Needless to say, Takato likes what he sees, but upon Jeri realizing she accidentally turned on Takato, they both try and quickly chance the subject to avoid further awkwardness.

* AdaptedOut: Ai and Mako, the original tamers of Impmon in ''Digimon Tamers'', do not appear, and neither does Leomon, who was the original partner of Jeri in ''Digimon Tamers''. Whereas Leomon being scrapped in favor of Impmon ties in directly to the WhatIf premise, Ai and Mako were adapted out because regardless of how much the AgeLift would be used on the characters, they're both far too young in the canon to realistically be adapted here as anything more than innocent civilians, considering literally every other character is High School aged or are adults, or in Grandis and Raiga's case a living TimeAbyss. Not only that, but the author pointed both case's out [[https://www.deviantart.com/mf217/journal/I-did-it-my-way-764057403 here]] that a huge dosage of AdultFear would be in play if they were to be involved in any scene regarding [[TheSociopath Besiege]], who would have no issue killing them if needed because [[VileVillainSaccharineShow he's just that kind of heinous about who he's hired to kill.]]

* HypotheticalCasting: Creator/CassandraLeeMorris, using a voice sounding like her [[VideoGame/Persona5 Morgana]] voice.

* RealityEnsues: He doesn't actively try and do anything romantic to attract women to him, he just shows a good amount of upfront qualities about himself that make him an ideal suitor, such as his NiceGuy traits, his RealMenCook tendencies, his dorky nature as a whole, and the fact he does well in both grades and athletics and is among the best students in the school.

* RealityEnsues: Her ActionGirl tendencies from the canon have often been criticized of her trying to force herself into being one; [[spoiler:here we see what happens when she's forced to use an artifact called a Bronze Card or lest her mother and grandmother will be killed, yet alone the DespairEventHorizon she ''already'' suffers from the fact Darigus ''almost'' would've killed her without question had it not been for Grandis' sudden entry the prior chapter. Then there's what the outcome of the last encounter she has with Michael, in which she shoots him dead in self-defense as a means of rescuing herself from him molesting her. However, the mental trauma that comes with the whole complex of TheseHandsHaveKilled really begin to eat away at her sanity as shown in the next few chapters.]]

* RealityEnsues: When Ryo tries to confront her about who she is, she freaks out when Ryo says her name because she had never met Ryo prior at all and thinks he's an obsessed stalker. [[spoiler:Ryo may know of her incarnation from ''Digimon Re: Adventure'', but he doesn't know this incarnation of Mimi he sees here.]]

* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: In the canon, the D-Reaper was effectively an InvincibleVillain who wasn't able to be defeated until Gallantmon Crimson Mode was able to be used to stop it, and the fact Digimon who play the GrewBeyondTheirProgramming trope straight were rendered easy victims of the D-Reaper. Here, on the other hand, the D-Reaper fails to function as a major threat because its {{Aversion}} of growing beyond its programming is transformed into a ''weakness'' rather than an advantage; [[spoiler:Ultra Level Digimon make a complete and utter joke of the D-Reaper here, since because the D-Reaper as shown here [[RealityEnsues is nothing more than a giant amoeba, it's too basal in nature to harm]] [[UltimateLifeform Ultra Level Digimon]] [[RealityEnsues at all.]]]]

* RealityEnsues: The reason for its VillainDecay; its {{Aversion}} of the GrewBeyondTheirProgramming trope reduces its advancements with its various agents are rendered null because they still maintain the D-Reaper's initial primitive nature. Had the D-Reaper actually played the GrewBeyondTheirProgramming trope straight, it would've avoided the villain decay altogether and remained a viable threat. In other words, imagine if Slimes from an RPG were a minor enemy at best; you'd have the D-Reapers weaker forms here. Then imagine said slimes combining together into a GiantMook, which would resemble the more powerful agents from the anime; they ''maintain all of their prior weaknesses'' because they're nothing more than just TheBrute versions of their predecessor forms in overall functionality.

** The narrative of ''Digimon Re: Tamers'' robs the advantages the D-Reaper had in the original series, because due to the more {{Reconstruction}} based narrative of ''Digimon Re: Tamers'', many of the D-Reaper's former victims in the canon series had exploited the D-Reaper's {{Aversion}} of the GrewBeyondTheirProgramming trope and weaponizes it against them. Effectively rendered a very colossal amoeba in this narrative sense, it is robbed of any of the complexity it even "had" from the original series because of the fact [[RealityEnsues it would've had no choice but to grow beyond its programming to actually achieve said powers in the first place, thus making its aversion of said trope a complete]] AchillesHeel in this version. [[spoiler:{{Averted}} with Takato Red, although still somewhat PlayedStraight in that while Takato Red succeeds where his D-Reaper failed, his goals and motivation are highly modified due to the human mind he inhabits now.]]

* FamousLastWords: [[spoiler:"[=IceDevimon=], did I secure the package for Besiege...? I must know... if my mission... is now... c-complete..."]]

** [[spoiler:Unlike Enric's other recruits who all were killed off by Mega Level Digimon, Kamny and [=UlforceVeedramon X=] are killed off by a Champion Level in the form of Shisamon. How? Shisamon absorbs a direct hit from Shining V Force [[Film/GodzillaVSMechagodzilla into his left eye, then fires the beam out of his right eye]] at tenfold power, and instantly dusts [=UlforceVeedramon X=] and Kamny in a single shot before either of the two even get the chance to have FamousLastWords.]]

* FusionDance: Despite Sakuyamon and Gallantmon both being showcased to be this in regards to their canon selves, they are ''not'' utilizing Bio-Emerging to do this; that would've immediately been shot down by the fact they activating their Mega Level forms in the real world, and no Dobermon is present to have given them the ability to have already do it like in the canon. It's a case of WrongContextMagic as to how they still become Mega Level in this continuity as opposed to the canon, and unlike in the canon, Ryo is excluded from this as his Cyberdramon can easily become Millenniumon without him. Here, the Soul Link, a supernatural power that is the bane of Ultimorian entities and is noted to basically be ThePowerOfFriendship given physical form, is what allows for the primary PowerTrio of Henry, Ruki, and Takato to fuse with their own Digimon to have them become Mega Level. In spite of all of this, when the three Digimon in question are within the Digital World, no FusionDance occurs and their human partners remain separate entities as Rapidmon, Taomon, and [=WarGrowlmon=] Digivolve into their Mega Level forms all by themselves.

* YourSizeMayVary: All of the Digimon in the canon were traditionally rather big as Champion, Ultimate Level or even Mega Level; here almost all of the evolved forms have shrunk as to allow them to fit into doors meant for humans, which reflects their sizes in the games at least in the over world portions. [=WarGrowlmon=], the biggest Ultimate of the canon PowerTrio, is the most noticeably shrunken in the cast. [=MegaGargomon=] being a borderline {{Kaiju}} in the original likewise gets shrunken ''even more so''.

This mostly boils down to the way the Eastern Zodiac was formed; the rat tricked the cat into missing out on the race, and thus cats became mortal enemies with rats as a result, and Vungareimon, for all intents and purposes, is a giant, demonic cat-like creature.

** When he's digivolving into Vungareimon for the first time, he tears his apart his own body as Devimon from the inside out, first appearing as cracking ridges forming along Devimon's form, before Vungareimon explosively emerges from within his own Devimon form and causes his exterior to shatter like glass and promptly melt into smoldering ash.

* EstablishingSeriesMoment: His GoshDarnItToHeck tangent in the prologue actually establishes an unusual fact about ''Digimon Re: Tamers'' that is the fact the ObligatorySwearing is going to be toned down to the point it's most often used as a PrecisionFStrike scenario at most. This is in stark contrast with previous fics like ''Digimon Re: Adventure'', and even ''Truth and Ideals'', in which the swearing was there from the beginning only to get out of control as the story progressed; the fact nobody actually swears until [[spoiler:Henry's flashback of him CallingTheOldManOut]] is a major testament to the author's attempts to heavily tone down the overabundance of swearing in his fics prior to this one.

* TakesOneToKillOne: [[spoiler:Vungareimon has an explicit advantage with not just terminating Virus Attribute Digimon, but ''also'' towards being able to terminate Deva Digimon. The Deva speculate that Vungareimon is perhaps a fallen member of their own, but none of them can recognize it as being one of their own kind. This is because Vungareimon represents the unofficial member of the Eastern Zodiac in the form of the cat. Barbarymon, the next digivolution of Vungareimon, even has a signature attack which is designed to tear apart Deva Digimon.]]
* TerrorHero: Barbarymon's visual appearance has been used on the decor and artwork of a lost civilization that only uses his ferocious appearance to guard their ancient land to scare off intruders or thieves. Even the Sovereigns have gotten a tad paranoid this idea worked a little too well in hindsight, considering none of them are willing to answer or find out exactly how strong Barbarymon's bite actually is.

Also, it's not obvious at first due to the pose it's pictured in, but Barbarymon also has a pathetically skinny midsection compared to both his larger upper body and lower body.]]

* CerebusRetcon: [[spoiler:Impmon's true Champion and Ultimate level forms are mysterious entities whom, as demonstrated from Vungareimon alone, are so vicious in nature that little information is documented on them because of how few survivors exist to report on their mere existence alone.]]

** Impmon is sleeping at Jeri's house in the morning of Chapter 1, and mutters digivolving into a Champion Level form, murmuring the names partially for Devidramon and Ogremon, and then upon waking up, asks himself what his actual digivolved forms are aside from Beelzemon. The BloodierAndGorier usage of the attack pretty much removes the kid gloves regarding the previously established BloodlessCarnage the fic had maintained prior to this point.

* TookALevelInJerkass: PlayedForLaughs: During Jeri's periods, her mindset causes her to try to behave more like an AlphaBitch; key emphasis on tries because her attempts to come across as a {{Jerkass}} ends up only making her look {{Adorkable}} since, while her behavior during her period is indeed kind of {{Jerkass}}-worthy, the fact Jeri looks very [[GenkiGirl child-like for a teen]], [[MoodDissonance on the other hand...]]

* {{Adorkable}}: His interaction with Jeri can definitely come across as this, considering both of them are PromotedToLoveInterest for each other. The entire scene of them trying to cook but failing only cements their dorky nature together.

The BloodierAndGorier usage of the attack pretty much removes the kid gloves regarding the previously established BloodlessCarnage the fic had maintained prior to this point.
