As son of a long-deceased knight of the prestigious Order of Agni, Vargas quickly climbed up the rank and file of the Agni Empire with his talents and his greatsword Dandelga. Nevertheless, he still felt inadequate, and thus continued to train himself even as he was beating opponent after opponent. But after losing to Lava, he retreated far from society to train himself even further -- only to return just in time to witness the beginning of the War of the Gods, during which he proved himself a match for them. However, even that war slowly took it's toll on him, until Lava apparently decided to sacrifice herself to give him even more power and one half of a pair of flaming wings.

* BadassCape: He has one throughout all his forms, where it only gets more ragged and more awesome-looking.

* CombinationAttack: By unlocking certain Enhancements in his Omni Evolution form, he can bring in the pain even more with his Sparks or through buffing his squadmates' Spark Damage.

Originally a nobleman from the Principality of Vriksha, Lance one day found a pike called Demon Pike Drevas, suddenly awakening in him a thirst for adventure. His skills with his new weapon impressed many, though he wasn't exactly fond of all the flattery. He was said to have disappeared following his releasing of the World Tree Altro, only to resurface during the War of the Gods apparently infused with Altro's power, fighting the gods even as he was apparently trying to control Drevas' assimilation with him on his own terms.

* BladeOnAStick: He wields one throughout all his forms up until his Omni Evolution form, [[spoiler:because Lance returned Drevas to his true and humanoid form.]]
* BlueBlood: Lance was this, before he turned to a life of adventure much to his parents' opposition.

It was awakened once Lance had gained the strength of the World Tree Altro after freeing him, as well as after he earned the title of Nature God. Hailing from the mines of the Atharva Republic, Eze left home in search of adventure. Bearing nothing but his sword skills honed by years of working at the mines, a tough attitude but also a soft spot for women, the sight of Emilia fighting encouraged Eze to train himself even further with his trusty greatsword Batootha, and eventually entered the annals of history by saving Emilia during the War of the Gods. Afterwards, he proudly proclaimed that Emilia deemed him worthy of respect despite his idiocy.

* BoisterousBruiser: He fought against Vargas on even footing while mistaking him for Lava in the manga, but however...

An orphan raised in a monastery somewhere in the La Veda Republic, Atro proved his talents early in life when he managed to fend off a group of bandits with just a tree branch. At the head friar's recommendation, he traveled the world to hone his skills, in the process earning Urias, a sword blessed by the gods. However, when he discovered his home monastery destroyed by the gods amidst the war, Atro went on a rampage until Urias broke. Coming to his senses, he vowed to never give in to his rage ever again and to use his talents to protect people, allowing Urias to be reformed, but now stronger than ever.

* BadassCape: He wears one starting in his second form, which he keeps throughout.

* HeroicBSOD: He was initially conflicted on whether or not to go to war against the gods, as he was raised religiously. That quickly changed as soon as the gods destroyed the monastery he grew up in, and then he threw himself headlong into the fight.

* InfinityPlusOneSword: He eventually claimed the legendary Light Sword Urias for himself, though only ''after'' he broke it once.

* LegacyCharacter: The Zelban who would become Michele's ally commented that Atro was meant to be his successor, but he had to wait until Atro is ready. [[spoiler:Additionally, his Omni Evolution form's lore reveals that had Atro survived the war, his name would have replaced "Zelban" as the namesake of a Master La Vedan Fencer.]]

Ever since his youth Magress shared the Bariura Empire's aspirations for world domination, spurred on by the heroics of his father, a cavalry leader. After losing to his father in a duel, Magress left to train himself, only to return to the news that his parents were murdered by his fellow knights, who deeply resented his apparent desertion. Magress then went on a vengeance run against those who killed his family, skewering any who dared stand up to him with his lance Leomurg. During the War of the Gods he went on a god-killing spree until he became a target of their leaders, at which point Magress chose to assimilate some of the powers of the gods he defeated to the point that he barely looked human.

Rumored to be from another world, Mifune wandered Bariura with his trusty katana. Refusing to bow to anyone, Mifune wandered around while taking challenges left and right until his katana came to life with a penchant for bloodlust. During the war of the gods he fought viciously until his last breath, only for the evil spirits of his blade to bring him back as a spectre, able to kill even the gods in one fell swoop.

* ArmorPiercingAttack: From Shadow Ronin onward, his Leader Skill allows his team to ignore [=DEF=]. His omni Extra Skill also allows him to use his [=BB/SBB=] to enhance his team with ignore [=DEF=] for 2 turns.

* BattleAura: Mifune has one which manifests as a purple fiery dragon in his last two forms.
