As a result, he's more than a little unhinged when it comes to "protecting" Kagura, and might have some deeper feelings of resentment toward him.

* SacredFirstKiss: When Haruka kisses him he lies and says it’s his first. Considering his first kiss was stolen by [[spoiler:[[BrotherSisterIncest Saya]] using [[KissOfDeath Soul Eater]] on him when she wiped out the Terumi Clan]], he had a pretty good reason to lie.

Because the main timeline, which is the source of all the possible universes, is in jeopardy, his world disappeared. * SpellMyNameWithAnS: In ''Bloodedge Experience'', "Kurogane" is written in kanji, but in ''Central Fiction'', it is written in katakana.

* AllThereInTheManual: In one of the strangest examples of a “manual,” Es having the same mark on her body as Ragna and Naoto (see Mark of the Supernatural) was revealed by an official ''dakimakura'' of all things. Since her tattoo is located above her crotch as opposed to her upper chest like the other two, [[{{Fanservice}} for some reason]], it’s pretty much impossible to show in the T-Rated game.

* BoobsOfSteel: Has the second largest chest and is the second physically strongest among the academy girls; Makoto takes first place in both. Mai has the fourth largest bust among the entire cast, being surpassed only by Litchi, Makoto and Bullet, and beating Taokaka who's fifth. Mai was also marketed as a "kyonyuu bishoujo" ("big-breasted beautiful young woman") for the advertisement of ''Remix Heart''.

** Mai once ''assumes'' she used to be attracted to girls as a boy, but then admits to herself her upbringing never gave her a chance to fall in love with anyone. Her sister Celica ran the orphanage where Ragna, Jin, and Saya lived. Additionally, she used human transmutation to create the Nox Nyctores. She died at the hands of Terumi after the Dark War. This was his revenge for being strong-armed into working with the other heroes and was also done to prevent Nine from releasing the souls that powered his Nox Nyctores. Sometime after this event, she was reanimated as his puppet, the mysterious Phantom. After the events of ''Chronophantasma'', Nine ends up freed from her enslavement by the Imperator, and is now putting into motion a plan of her own. She becomes a playable character in ''Central Fiction'', serving as the boss of Act I of the game's Arcade Mode story, titled "Phantom of Labyrinth".
