** As the series goes on, the trope gets played for drama increasingly because House is such an unrelenting jerk that he destroys everything that surrounds him and all that stay in his orbit for an extended period of time [[TookALevelInJerkass get infected with his jerkishness]]. He also ends the series with at least one dead patient ''because'' of the "bunny ears" - after his whole crew quits on him early in Season 2, House takes on a case solo and going straight to the weird theories and solutions makes him overlook facts that lead to the patient's death.
