** In ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoOnline'', one of the promotion missions for the nightclub has Lazlow send the player to pick up Poppy Mitchell and bring her to the club. However, they have to determine her location from her Snapmatic (think Website/{{Instagram}}) posts since he's blocked on her Bleeter (think Website/{{Twitter}}). When you finally pick her up:

* In ''VideoGame/TheElderScrollsVSkyrim'', one of the CityGuards' [[WelcomeToCorneria random lines]] is "No lollygagging." During the quest "No One Escapes From Cidhna Mine", you meet an imprisoned orc named Borkul the Beast. He's in jail for [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking "Murder, Banditry, Assault, Theft, and Lollygagging."]]

* ''VideoGame/{{Undertale}}'': Late in Snowdin, the fallen child can find a large wolf-like monster throwing ice in to a river. In the hallway past Undyne's arena, they walk past a river where those same ice blocks can be seen flowing downstream. Finally, it's revealed near the end of the game that those ice blocks end up in the CORE, where they are used to either cool off the machine or be melted/evaporated to provide steam.
** One of the puzzles in Snowdin that Papyrus tries to make you do involves coloured tiles that all follow different rules. Depending on your responses, either the tiles that are generated are ones you can easily walk over, or the puzzle simply isn't activated. Later on in Hotland, Mettaton makes you do another one of these puzzles with the same rules (which are not explained because he points out you've already seen it "about a hundred rooms ago"), and while it ''is'' possible to make it to the end, chances are [[FissionMailed you won't]].
** If you wait in the Ruins when Toriel tells you to, she'll keep calling you until a dog steals her phone. An optional puzzle in Waterfall leads to a room where the dog somehow ends up in your inventory, and if you try to call Toriel, it will turn out that the dog stole her phone again.

* ''VideoGame/GrandTheftAutoIII'' has an example on [[Radio/GTARadio Chatterbox]]. A man calls in to talk about eating wildlife. At one point, he specifies eating pigeons saying "Sometimes, they come with little notes attached." Later, a woman calls into the station to promote her group which has been organized to ban phones from Liberty City. When Lazlow points out the irony of her using a phone to promote her anti-phone group, she mentions that they tried using carrier pigeons, but they keep disappearing.

* Early on in the ''FES'' re-release of ''VideoGame/Persona3'', the protagonist is asked to inspect a broken component in the operations room. There's nothing the player can actually fix, and it's instead a setup for the player to access the video recordings that were added in ''FES''. Near the end, after the final recording is accessed, Aigis mentions that she found and fixed the problem.
* In ''VideoGame/{{Persona 4}}'', when the crew first enters the TV world, Yosuke nearly wets his pants in the Ominous Bedroom. During the [[MultipleEndings normal ending]], when Teddie is trying to find [[spoiler:Adachi]], he comments that he "smells something funny" coming from that room.
** In the same game, Nanako believes that the weather forecasters control the weather. In the UpdatedRerelease, [[spoiler:Marie]] becomes a weather forecaster ''who actually controls the weather.''
** In one instance, Yukiko jokingly says that Teddie wearing a cape will look very silly. Then comes the [[VideoGame/Persona4Arena sequel]]; when Teddie [[spoiler:(actually Shadow Labrys)]] makes his entrance with an outfit that is best described as [[Franchise/StreetFighter M. Bison]]-inspired, [[TheHyena Yukiko bursts out laughing]].
** Early on in Marie's Social Link she asks you what "steak" is short for, allowing the player to answer in one of three ways, including "steak-out" and "steaaaaaaaak". Several Social Link ranks later, she brings it up once again, probably after you long since forgot what you told her making the occasion funnier, especially since the scene is fully voiced.

** Also in this game, there's one that comes back in the ''following'' game, which, despite being comical, is actually significant to the plot both times. Just when Grodus has Mario at his mercy, [[spoiler:Bowser's weight causes him to fall through the ceiling above and he lands on Grodus, temporarily removing him from play (before proceeding to fight Mario himself).]] Later, in the final chapter of ''VideoGame/SuperPaperMario]], [[spoiler:Bowser is seemingly crushed by a falling ceiling while protecting Peach and the Mario Bros., but during the fight with Count Bleck, once again when all hope seems lost, [[DisneyDeath he turns up alive with Peach and Luigi (who had also seemingly died earlier)]] and reveals that once again he fell through the floor.]]

* During one of Alex's early heart events in ''VideoGame/StardewValley'', he confides to you that [[spoiler: his father was abusive and his mother died]], then tries to lighten the mood by taunting his dog Dusty with a steak. If you pursue him to his 10-heart event, he asks you on a date to the Saloon... and orders steak. Cue Dusty charging through the window.

* A massive [[PlayedForDrama serious]] brick from [[VideoGame/Yakuza1 the first]] ''VideoGame/{{Yakuza}}'' game resurfaces in ''VideoGame/Yakuza4,'' when [[spoiler:Hamazaki shows Kiryu that the ten billion [[FakingAndEntering 'stolen']] from Tojo HQ was originally meant to go to [[PrivateProfitPrison Okinawa Penitentiary No. 2]]]].

* A big one from [[VideoGame/Yakuza1 the first]] ''VideoGame/{{Yakuza}}'' game resurfaces in ''VideoGame/Yakuza4,'' when [[spoiler:Hamazaki shows Kiryu that the ten billion [[FakingAndEntering 'stolen']] from Tojo HQ was originally meant to go to [[PrivateProfitPrison Okinawa Penitentiary No. 2]]]].
