* A truly epic meta example for Rick Riordan. With the introduction of the Norse gods, he is juggling three different pantheons. In the same universe. Where will he go next?
** Babylonian or Japanese?
** Perhaps Ireland? I could see an interesting plot coming from the Tuatha De Danan. After all, they're the only gods who've been attacked by mere mortals, and ''lost''. The Norse are nicer because they aren't the center of their universe, by the Tuatha were cast down. That's gotta be all kinds of humiliating and/or humbling. Humble gods. Kinda seems like an oxymoron, doesn't it?
** Aztec, maybe? It would make the joke about Hera raising Leo like his Aztec forefathers would have into a {{ChekhovsGun}} and with the way Literature/TheHeroesOfOlympus ended you could have Calypso encountering the Aztec gods too.
*** Magnus makes a joke in The Hammer of Thor about the Aztec gods living in Houston, aka where Leo's from. Oh my gods, I'm a little scared now.
*** In TrialsOfApollo, when Apollo is listing other sun gods that'll pick up his slack since Zeus cast him down, he mentions that the Aztec sun god Toniatuh is powered by stored blood, so he at least clearly exists...
** And you could have Slavic mythology too.
*** Are you sure we have enough information on that for it to work? It's sort of famous as one of the most lost mythologies out there. That said, our Myth/SlavicMythology page does have quite a bit...
** After the three he's done, the next most ''popular'' in the public sphere is probably [[Myth/KingArthur the Matter of Britain, aka the Arthurian Cycle.]] I'd love to see modern-day Knights of the Round Table.
*** Oooh, that sounds interesting.
*** Only problem is, only three of the Arthurian characters can technically be considered to be "alive". Arthur himself (magic healing coma on Avalon), Merlin (trapped in a tree), and the Lady of the Lake (member of the Fae). The other knights are dead.
*** They could do something where present day teens inherit the weapons of the Knights of the Round Table or the knights are reincarnated as the present day teens.
** ''Trials Of Apollo'' actually has an EleventhHourRanger character named Oujime who Apollo pegs as a demigod from another tradition - in fact, he even mentions that he is Yoruban. He doesn't follow Apollo, but who knows if this isn't a ChekhovsGun?
** No one knows what Yoruban mythology is. But do you know what Yoruba is an ancestor of: ''Voodoo''.
* Another meta example for Uncle Rick: Writing his first trans/gender fluid character in the form of Alex. So many other writers who write for preteens and teens would never do that.
* How about the SequelHook that's impossible to miss: Annabeth is going to introduce Magnus to Percy! Rick's crossed-over Greek and Egyptian worlds and now he's gonna do Greek and Norse!
** More awesome from a meta point of view: While Percy shows up and becomes a bit of a BigBrotherMentor for Magnus, he does not go on the quest, averting worries of him becoming a SpotlightStealingSquad.

** Made better if you know a bit more about Ramadan, namely that there's a stipulation that you are allowed to break fast if you are sick or if it will harm you. Sam ''could'' eat if she truly needed to, but something as simple as the threat of Norse apocalypse isn't enough for her fast to endanger her.
