Earth is being attacked by [[MonsterOfTheWeek Saiarks]] from the Phantom Kingdom. However, the world is being protected by the legendary warriors, Pretty Cure. One of these warriors is Cure Princess, also known as Hime Shirayuki, the immature princess of the Blue Sky Kingdom.. Unfortunately, she can't even destroy a single Saiark. Seeing this, the magical being Blue grants Hime the Crystal of Love and tells her to find a partner. Hime decides to throw the crystal from the top of a building and become partners with whoever it hits. The crystal hits Megumi Aino, a lively but meddlesome girl who happened to be passing by.

Megumi is quick to befriend Hime, but subsequently another Saiark attacks. Megumi awakens the power of the crystal and transforms into Cure Lovely. Together with Hime, the two girls fight against the the forces of the Phantom Kingdom [[MacGuffin while searching for the magical Precards]], [[GottaCatchEmAll which will bestow any wish the owner desires once they are all collected]].
