The former is explicitly stated in the narration, while the latter is left to visual cues and inference ([[spoiler: the fact that the little girl who looks like Matt has a Yokomon and the little boy who looks like Sora has a Tsunomon, plus the fact that they were together in the series proper]]), with a later [[WordOfGod Hiromi Seki]] herself confirming in ''V-Jump''. ** In the original Japanese, Sora's son in the epilogue calls TK, "Takeru-ojisan," meaning "uncle." Assuming this is a literal application, then it would seem that Takeru is Sora's brother-in-law.

* FusionDissonance: Ankylomon and Angemon [[FusionDance DNA digivolves]] into Shakkoumon. Even though Shakkoumon is also an Angel Digimon like its latter component, the closest similarity is in its wings which are even too stubby compared to Angemon's. Instead of a more [[WingedHumanoid humanoid]] [[OurAngelsAreDifferent angel]] or [[StockDinosaurs ankylosaurus]], this fusion looks more like a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogū dogu]] doll with ornaments that are [[InterfaithSmoothie inspired by]] UsefulNotes/{{Shinto}}, UsefulNotes/{{Taoism}}, and UsefulNotes/{{Christianity}}. This fusion is also possible in some of the games but sometimes, these components can transform into Shakkoumon by themselves.

* ContinuitySnarl: Digimon 02 attempts to tie in events form the UsefulNotes/WonderSwan games with the Drama CD and the Digimon Movie. The problem is that TheMovie, the games, the anime itself all have conflicting versions of the same events (not helping things is the fact that [[NoExportForYou only the movie was actually released outside of Japan]]). For example, in ''Our War Game'', Ryo[[note]]A cameo from the first Wonderswan game, Anode[=/=]Cathode Tamer[[/note]] is seen sending a supporting e-mail to Taichi and Koushirou via laptop from some mountainside; in the game ''Tag Tamers'', however, he and Ken are watching the Omegamon[=/=]Diablomon fight from Ken's room; indeed that fight kicks off the events of the game. Another example: in ''Hurricane Touchdown'', 02's NonSerialMovie, we meet Wallace, who has no knowledge of the Digital World; a younger Wallace actually appears in the third Wonderswan game, ''D-1 Tamers'', as a major character, no less.

** In creating ''Digimon: TheMovie'', the dub shoehorned the events of ''Hurricane Touchdown'' into continuity, which confuses people as to why Seraphimon and Magnadramon don't appear in the penultimate episode. Izzy also mentions Wallace (Willis) later on in the dub, which begs the question of what he's doing during the international attacks going on.

* NiceHat: T.K.'s nearly ever-present Gilligan hat. Also, Kari and Yolei get berets when winter sets in.

* LoadsAndLoadsOfCharacters: Well, add in the new kids and Digimon, the old cast, their Digimon, their parents, sometimes their brothers and sisters, and the new villains and their victims, the cast is huge. Thankfully, the number of main Digidestined is now down to 5 [[spoiler: later 6]], instead of the 8 of last season, and DNA digivolution consolidates the cast a bit.

* FiveManBand: The team is headed up by the new kids IdiotHero Davis, [[TheQuietOne shy and sensible]] [[TheBigGuy kid martial artist]] Cody, and [[GenkiGirl outspoken]] [[TheSmartGuy computer geek]] Yolei, [[ThreePlusTwo and the grown up]] {{Tag Along Kid}}s from the previous generation [[HopeBringer TK]] [[TheRival (who Davis is jealous of)]] and [[MysticalWaif Kari]] [[LoveInterest (who Davis has an crush on)]].
** After the Digimon Kaiser arc, they recruit former BigBad Ken as a SixthRanger and proper brooding {{Lancer}} to Davis' Hero, and he mostly gets over his hang ups with TK and Kari. TheTeam's new structure is fundamentally transformed into three FusionDance pairs, [[CynicIdealistDuo Davis and Ken]], [[EnergeticAndSoftSpokenDuo Yolei and Kari]], [[EmotionsVsStoicism Cody and TK]].

* AdultFear:
** Ken leaving his home and his parents in episode 9, especially [[DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything the note about "leaving the world" he leaves behind on his computer for his parents to see.]]
** His backstory is this too. His brother died in a car crash and his parents, in their grief, failed to notice such things as [[ItsAllMyFault Ken blaming himself for the crash]] and receiving disturbing emails from one of his father's coworkers. Sweet dreams, mommies and daddies.
** During the final arc, Arukenimon, Mummymon and Oikawa abduct elemenary school children for their plans using typical kidnapping techniques such as gifts of toys.

* HolyIsNotSafe: The BigGood digimon Azulongmon provided a "digi-core" that could provide a great deal of power to the [=DigiDestined=], but when Gennai showed up with it in hand, he warned them that it was extremely powerful, and offered them a chance to back down from using it, implying this trope was in effect. They took it anyway, and it allowed the original 8 kids' digimon to reach the Ultimate level, and gave Paildramon the ability to digivolve to Imperialdramon.
