Alicia has been isolated all those years while Izumo makes choices he hates himself for making, choices that he eventually realizes too late that have only made things worse for the people of both worlds. As harsh as the parting scene may have been depicted to the viewers, both have only found scant comfort in being united with their son one last time, being finally freed from their respective prisons by the said meeting with their son and lastly in finding faith in Amata that he will save the worlds from their mistakes which they are denied from correcting themselves.]]

* MotiveDecay: Kagura again. Don't make a character spend 25 episodes straight talking about how badly he wants to "kill" his wench to then make a complete character flip because the plot demands so.

* OutOfCharacter: Oh boy, '''Kagura''' during [[spoiler:the entire last episode. You don't expect a guy who has killed, is willing to kill, has gone under rampages about it during straight 25 episodes and has his own insert song about how badly he wants his wench to suddenly decide that Amata is more fitting to be with Mikono in less than 5 minutes. Amata, the one he was trying to kill for real one episode earlier. Most people call episode 26's Kagura "pod!Kagura" or replacement Kagura, you name it.]]

* HeadPet: See that thing in Mikono's hair that looks like a [[HairDecorations cute hair accessory?]] It is actually Mikono's "cat," Shu-Shu. When it's not too busy being a cute hair accessory, it usually resides on her [[ParrotPetPosition shoulder]].

* DerailingLoveInterests: Many people feel like Zessica was more caring about Amata than Mikono and was more deserving of him, since fans felt that Mikono was either a bad character herself or it just didn't seem like she cared about Amata enough to return his feelings.
** The same about the people who felt like Kagura should just get Mikono once for all, adding [[spoiler:his line on episode 25 saying that she's the only good thing in his life, after showing his childhood being tortured by Mykage doesn't make it any better. (Which wasn't entirely in line with the first part of the series where Kagura is comlaining to Mykage about Izumo bullying him, and asking Mykage to wake up already.]]

* MeaningfulName: The massive wall that separates the male and female sections of the Academy is called the "[[BerlinWall Berlin]]."

* AdaptationDistillation: Done in-series with "Skies of Aquaria," a supposedly trashy B-movie Amata kept playing on the movie theater he works in about the events of [[Anime/GenesisOfAquarion 12,000 years past]], which is justifiable, considering the massive time gap. To summarize how much peoples' perception of those events have changed: Apollo is now known as "Apollon" and has become a LongHairedPrettyBoy (probably alluding to his original incarnation, Apollonius), Sylvia as "Sylvie," and the Aquarion as the "Aquar'''ia'''" (revealed to be a deliberate move by DEAVA to hide its true name), with no word yet as to modern perceptions on all the other players in the previous war. What they got right: Apollo's [[XMarksTheHero cross-shaped]] [[GoodScarsEvilScars scar]], [[RedHeadedHero red hair]], his HeroicSacrifice, and his parting promise with Silvia to meet her again after 12,000 years.

* RedHeadedHero: Amata.

* CouldHaveAvoidedThisPlot: Really, half of the things in the series wouldn't have even happened if the characters just sat down and talked, like in Amata and Mikono's case. Indeed Mykage's ''very existence'' wouldn't have even come about [[spoiler:had Fudo come clean that he was really Apollonius all along]].

The sequel to ShojiKawamori's [[DeusSexMachina orgasm-powered]] [[HumongousMecha mecha]] series ''Anime/GenesisOfAquarion'', which started airing on 8 January 2012 as part of the Winter2012Anime lineup.

** Mix [[DoesNotLikeMen hates]] [[CaptainObvious men]], so of course she would be the one who is forcefully taken to [[spoiler: Altair, a planet filled with men -- and turned into a guy.]]

An OVA for the series has been announced for 2015. It takes place in Showa-era Japan and tells the story of Shin Tsukishima and Yuno Kawazu, who get caught in the middle of a new battle involving [[CrisisCrossover both the casts of Evol and their predecessors.]]

** There's even a shoutout to ''{{Macross}}'' with the [[spoiler: [[http://forums.animesuki.com/showthread.php?p=4073721 pineapple pizza]] appearing the episode before the one where Jin is KilledOffForReal]]
*** Considering the fact that the series is directed by the same man responsible for ''MacrossFrontier'', the ''Macross'' references shouldn't be surprising.

* {{Rewrite}}: Twice. [[spoiler: the entire existence of the shadow angel dog Pollon is this. Originally Kawamori did want to include the plot twist Pollon in the original ''Anime/GenesisofAquarion'', however the staff of Genesis talked him out of it pointing out that the inclusion of the dog would only take away the focus on the love story between Apollo and Silvia. Kawamori reluctantly agreed and Pollon was erased from the story and Apollo was made the reincarnation of Apollonius (this is also why there is no mention of the dog in the Aquarion OVAs). When it came time to make up the story for EVOL however, Ohkada found Kawamori's notes and Kawamori was easily convinced into integrating the idea back into the story.]]
