* Not only does the Eon Ticket event return (and is now shareable via [=StreetPass=]), but the Latis have been given a bigger storyline - you and Steven will set out in a sidequest to rescue your version's Lati, and according to a trailer they join your team on their own will, meaning you won't have to chase them around the region to catch them! In addition, by using a new item called the Eon Flute, you can ride them over the near majority of the region in their Mega Evolutions. VisualEffectsOfAwesome at its finest.

Only apples to previews.

* While Wattson is still shown with a Magneton, Phoebe has a Dusknoir. The Hoenn Pokédex is redesigned to include the new evolutions that debuted in G4. Same with Wally having a Mega Gallade, a Pokemon that's from a Gen 4 split evolution chain.
** The official site has shown that Salamence (a late-Pokédex Pokémon) got bumped up by amount of the Generation IV Pokémon related to those in Hoenn's Pokédex.

** Not only is Sharpedo able, but it moves much faster than regular surfing Pokemon. A few [=NPCs=] even outright suggest doing this.
** Plus, Kyogre is also visible. And it may not be able to go everywhere, but Trainer's won't hound you for a battle. Because if they see you riding Kyogre, a Pokémon that was assumed a myth, what chance do they have?
** Diving is now shown from a perspective similar to the one used in X and Y's Azure Bay. Those trenches and schools of aquatic Pokemon are a sight to behold!

** Feebas is no longer found on just six water tiles. It can now be found on any water tile in Route 119. Even better, you can easily fish for them under a certain bridge during the day.
** You can now get both bikes after a post-game sidequest.

* Fans of the Goomy line will be pleased to know that Route 119 is still stuck in a permanent rainstorm, meaning Sliggoo can be evolved anytime unlike in Kalos.

* So who are the Multi Battle partners for the Battle Maison? The opposite gender rival? Nice! Wally? Great! The villain team leader?Maxie for Omega Ruby, Archie for Alpha Sapphire. Awesome! Steven Stone?! Oh yeah! The last three also use Mega Evolutions.
* The move tutors are back, with some moves that have become highly desirable in Generation VI such as Hyper Voice and Knock Off. Although they charge BP, not only are their prices much cheaper than beforein [=HeartGold=] and [=SoulSilver=], they ranged from 32 to 64 BP, while in these games, they range from 4 to 16 BP, the more generous BP system from the Battle Maison means it's easier to accumulate BP, making teaching new moves to Pokémon a much faster process than ever before.
* Hidden Abilities for the Unova starters are now legal. That Contrary Serperior you've been dreaming about having since Black and White can now be yours for real this time.

* You can ask Lanette to make the "Organize Pokémon" option on the PC the default one.

* For those who admire the battle animations, you can now play (and pause) them for any Pokemon you have caught via the Pokedex (instead of it being just the standard non-action animation), including Mega Evolutions. In X and Y the only way to see the animations for the mega evolutions in the game was to actually battle with them.

** Rayquaza gets a Mega Evolution that not only has an outstanding design, it gets a new ability called "Delta Stream", which creates a new weather effect that removes other weathers and causes super effective attacks against Flying-types to do neutral damage. As a Mega Evolution, it also gets the standard 100-point boost to its stats, making it as powerful as Mega Mewtwo X and Y. Rayquaza can now perform its role as the mediator between Groudon and Kyogre, because his new Ability will even nullify Primal Groudon/Primal Kyogre's abilities, even when they're still on the field!. And it does not need a Mega Stone! The only pre-requisite to Mega-evolve Rayquaza is the new move Dragon Ascent! It is a Legendary that Mega-Evolves that can pack a Held Item other than a Mega Stone!

* EV training through horde encounters is now a lot more convenient. First, there are certain routes where, if you initiate a horde battle, you're guaranteed to get a Pokemon that raises the EV of a specific stat, meaning you won't have to get pissed off whenever you encounter a Cubchoo horde instead of a Vanillite horde. Second, Sweet Scent is no longer affected by the weather, which is especially convenient since two of the routes have perpetual weather conditions.

* The Gotta catch 'em all slogan is real! With all four games (and some considerable effort) it's finally possible to get all non-event Pokémon in the same generation for the first time since Generation III!From an overall perspective, this trait isn't all that special, considering how you can catch 'em all in half of the main games as of now. However, Gen I let you obtain every Pokémon in the Pokédex (counting Mew, via a glitch) because at the time, there was just one generation and 151 Pokémon; meanwhile, Gen III only included this feature because the Game Boy Advance is incompatible with the Game Boy & Game Boy Color. Generations II, IV, and V, and VI all feature methods of transferring Pokémon from previous generations, making it unnecessary to feature every non-event Pokémon in normal gameplay. Before Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, the ability to transfer Pokémon from Generation V to Generation VI via Pokémon Bank made it seem unlikely that this trend would stop, meaning that the ability to catch all non-event Pokémon in the Hoenn remakes came as quite a surprise to many players. Given the fact that there are now over 700 Pokémon in the National Pokédex, this is a much-needed blessing.
