Bring The Noise: Hauled out this:
- The rather enjoyable series Wanted ends with the protagonist (and thus, Mark Millar) spouting a monologue about how your humdrum life of working for a living and not being awesome like him is pathetic and you should feel bad, ending with a closeup of his angry mug saying "This is my face while fucking you in the ass". Fridge Logic kicks in when you realise...Mark Millar is nothing more than a middle-aged man who writes comics that are mostly bought by, well, comic nerds. Does he self-sodomise?
- Yeah, because there's no way it could be the sort of attitude an unregualted supervillain would have, rather than the personal opinion of the writer.
- The movie replaced this with a more positive (or, at least, more inspiring) Take That! in the form of "What the fuck have you done lately?"
- That is because Mark Millar was not on the movie's writing team, and indeed they used as little of his storyline and plot as possible.
Lots of whining about writes you don't like, no real content. Seriously, does anyone think that Wesley Gibson is supposed to be an Author Avatar? I'm fairly certain Millar doesn't go around killing people for fun.
Grimace: Aww, I was rather proud of my little "self-sodomy" quip, but c'est la vie. But in my defence, this is Mark Millar we're talking about here; at least a sizable bit of Author Avatar-ism is expected. So while I hardly think Mr Millar has killed anybody in his long and varied career, he put a least a little of himself into the monologue, like he does with everything he does. Your replacement's fine though.
