Ununnilium: Good example from Fairly Oddparents. ^-^

Ununnilium: I think it's stronger with just the one quote. Thus:

After a long absence, the original Thor returned to his own comic book only to discover that comics in the nineties were very different from what he remembered. But Thor quickly fit right in by going violently insane.
- ibid.

The Gunheart: I wouldn't say Killy is a particularly good example, because besides his name, I don't see how he embodies any of the bullet points for this trope. And bringing up Yusuke seems to completely ignore his character development as the series went on.

Studiode Kadent: Why is Rorschach considered the Trope Codifier? He is not ridiculously muscled, has no pouches all over the place, does not use huge overcompensatory firearms, does not spout funny wisecracks, and most importantly is not an amoral "the end justifies the means" type. Rorschach is a Kantian moral absolutist that believes certain means (like, for instance, lying) NEVER can be justified by any end (like, for instance, averting World War 3).

Rorschach shares one characteristic with the '90s Anti-Hero: he uses violence relatively casually and is very Darker and Edgier. That's it.

I'd say Cable is the Trope Codifier, at least in his early days. The Comedian is the Unbuilt Trope of the '90s Anti-Hero; he's a muscular wisecracking gun-wielding type who quite clearly is an utter psychopath.

Ramidel: On the subject of Cable, I removed this:

  • If you look at the 90's animated series, he WAS a villain, atleast he was depicted quite like a villain, even considering his optic.

No, he was a Hero Antagonist trying to save his own world without all the information.

Kersey475: Is there a difference between a Heroic Socipath and a '90s Anti-Hero?

Studiode Kadent: Yes. A '90s Anti-Hero requires a certain look (hyper-steroidal, paramilitary-esque), a certain kind of attitude (cold, gruff, generally a bastard) and the like. Heroic Sociopath is arguably a deconstruction of the '90s Anti-Hero but the two are different concepts.
