I think where people are getting confused is that they seem to think that FridgeBrilliance is either applicable to any delayed realization that isn\\\'t a joke, or is anything that they thought took a lot of intelligence to see, when it\\\'s really something you don\\\'t like becoming something you find cool once you realize the flaw you thought was there had already been taken care of-- the inverse of FridgeLogic, where something cool becomes stupid once you realize a flaw in it. LateToThePunchline, on the other hand, is where you don\\\'t notice the joke because you don\\\'t realize the humor in it (I think it needs to be a joke, but I don\\\'t know exactly where the line is for the trope thanks to things like satire and parody) or know it\\\'s there but not why it\\\'s funny. The only crossover is when you fall for PoesLaw and then realize it was actually quite a humorous satire rather than a Troll complete idiot. ...I think, some people may not count that as FridgeBrilliance because it\\\'s too obvious.\\\\\\\\
Which brings me to my next point: Brilliance doesn\\\'t just mean \\\"Oh, that took a lot of brainpower!\\\" It can also mean \\\"Oh, that sudden click just caused a moment of clarity!\\\" I think the former is what the trope namers were trying to evoke, but still. Just because it\\\'s brilliant doesn\\\'t mean it\\\'s fridge brilliance, and just because it\\\'s not brilliant doesn\\\'t mean it isn\\\'t.

So, anyone up for translating the example two-line set and the line/paragraph following it into something concise enough for the tl;dr\\\'ers yet clear enough that it expresses the point of the difference? Because I know I\\\'m not, at least not without quite a bit more experience or a fortuitous flash of a good phrasing idea.

By the way, please tell me if I\\\'m CompletelyMissingThePoint, misunderstood the explanations, and they really are that ambiguous.

I will not say that there are no Plot Holes anywhere in the books (even Butcher acknowledges most of them), but Aurora\'s defeat is not one of them.

Aurora\'s defeat has nothing to do with how much power she or the pixies had. It had more to do with surprise, her not having enough time to even use any of her power (Harry had time to plan/get ready for the bees\' attack), and \'\'steel\'\' knives. If there had been just one pixie she might have been able to counter attack one way or another, but there were over a dozen. How well could you concentrate and retaliate if a dozen hummingbirds suddenly appeared in front of you and attacked you? With knives? She had no chance of surviving.
