Given that, I believe that is easier to admit that LMB just fumbled a bit, than to invent a lot of implausible justifications. Also, note that \\\'\\\'Barrayar\\\'\\\' was written in 90, well before she established the contact with the Russian fans, and her Russian (IIRC, she did study it a bit) is self-admittedly bad.
