In the manga Ranma says \\\"you\\\'re the only man I consider to be my rival\\\" which is pretty dang complementary coming from Ranma. The anime really ruined that moment since it was basically just a tactic to temporarily distract Ryoga anyway. But I would take that as pretty confirmatory of that status - in the manga, he \\\'\\\'was\\\'\\\' by all evidence sincere, and it\\\'s the first major arc with the two of them since the Moxibustion thing. Ryoga\\\'d doubtless incurred some good will for his behavior there. For some reason this page seems to have turned into a \\\"Ryoga sucks!\\\" fest which is not making me very happy... ::grumble::
