I've heard that BC is better than FT, but it still bothers me that it just basically feels like Bootleg combo of FT and OP combined. Like yeah I know it's fucking shounen, but at least be more original.
As an aside, why does this seem to be an issue with the series that Kodansha picks up? Like, both FT and SDS are both Kodansha properties that seemed to be interesting on paper with compelling early parts, but then descended into just overt T&A fan service and over the top bullshit nonsense.
Somehow the bulk of Shueishia Manga avoid these issues...As far as I know.

There's a theory that Larcade was supposed to be their actual son but the editors made him change it after the whole orgasm magic thing. However, Mashima's writing at this point was so terrible, that it's entirely possible he planned the August twist from the start and just bungled it.
August pointed out how Light Is Not Good specifically in relation to Zerefs son only a few chapters later to have it go "His kid is neither dark nor light"
