It was still amazing up until Fairies were introduced, but even then Dark Void was just that fucking good.

Its ironic that it wasn't even Darkrai itself that was the reason Dark Void was nerfed. And there wasn't even any need to do that since Gen 7 made it that only Darkrai can use Dark Void, so Smeargle wasn't even a factor anymore.

Wonder if there was some miscommunication in the development team there. Making Smeargle unable to use it should be enough, even though Spore exists anyway.

Well, Spore can't be used against Grass types, and Dark Void can be used on anything.

Dark Void also hits more than one thing in multi-battles. I'd imagine that a move with a 64% chance of putting all active opponents to sleep might be a bit oppressive in doubles.

Come to think of it, do official battles have a sleep clause?

No official competitions enforce Sleep Clause and haven't since like Gen III.

And I think Mythicals have never been legal even in the Uber formats. So why nerf the move if the only Pokémon that can use it won't see play?

One thing Darkrai does have is a sick-ass theme song from its movie:

Yeah, Darkrai only "sucks" for the Uber tier. If it wasn't so goddamn fast it would make OU easy under the Dark Void nerf.

Yeah the guy's lyrical flow is kind of amateurish. It does sound like something that could fit in a sonic game though...

Yeah, some of the Pokemon movies have the same kind of enjoyably cheesy butt-rock that modern Sonic games are known for. Here's another one of my favorites, from movie 4:

To this day, I don't know if "Celebi-R-A-T-E" is genuinely brilliant wordplay or just painfully forced.

Usually the movies dub their own songs over the ending, which made it surprising when Jirachi Wishmaker actually localized the original ending alongside the original lyrics

How Good Was Registeel ACTUALLY? Not good enough to be a consistent high tier presence, but always defined the meta of any lower tier he was in. I guess in that regard he's the most successful of the 3 Braille Golems.

Yeah.

I feel like the reaction is more...positive that I expected. I didn't think people would be angry, just....indifferent after they botched the massive hype they had back in Kalos.

Part of me feels it's due to word of mouth, since the reaction seem a bit more divided among ongoing viewers.

Well it was as likely as flying pigs, of course it would be noteworthy

And I've already seen people hype themselves up too much for what's next with Ash, despite the little info we have for the next arc.

Think they might phase Ash out of the series, considering ALL the regions are getting focus next time.

If I still cared about the anime, I'd probably be amused. I stopped watching a long time ago, so this doesn't matter to me.
